Connect DVR to wireless router problem

Greetings all,

While this could appear to be the incorrect place to post/ask this, it seems to be the nearest to my issue.

1)...I have a cctv DVR recorder that has an Internet access port (cat 5) in the unit.

2)....The DVR is located about 35' from wireless capable router (possibly "N".

3)....I need to get some sort of external and inexpensive piece of hardware to plug into the back of the dvr so it can connect to the wireless capable router for the purpose of viewing the cams via smart phone or distant computer.

*What can you recomend as it doesn't have to be fancy. I cannot run hard-wire, only wireless.

Thanks for any replies in advance.

I'm not exactly sure thinking about this. I think you might be able to hook the DVR up to a router and access the router's WIFI that way.

Thanks for the reply.

I have something as this in the closet but, is old and is on another band. It'll be difficult for me as it is since I have never done this.

I had a thought (yes, I really did! grin),

How about using one (a set) of power line "adapters" that transmit a net signal over home wiring absent a router or bridge? Ya think that could work?

I have a pair of sling-link adapters that have been sitting in my closet for 6 years unused that I could utilize.
