16G sticks are dual rank.

Most manufacturers specify 'official' support for the JEDEC standard that tops out at 2133. Frequencies over that are classified as 'overclock'. The SPD value are the values from the frequency table on the RAM, which is what you've been using them at.

If the OC is working at 3200 Mhz, should the task manager memory tab say 2133, or 3200?
Same for CPU-Z, should the JEDEC say 1600 or 1066?
This is what CPU-Z said no matter what I tried.

The memory tab will tell you what speed the ram is at. Dram frequency box should say something near 1600 to be running at 3200mhz.

The spec said SDP is 2133, but OC tested 3200? Should I be able to OC in the BIOS to show 3200?
In the BIOS (uefi really) there will be a section where you can select which SPD profile to select, you want the XMP profile.

Funny I found a comment on the same MO in PCPartsPicker that outlined the same problem I was having . . .

I have the same board. It works just fine. Keep in mind the BIOS is stupid. There is a speed setting below the XMP profile selection if setting the profile alone doesn't work.

Yes, I did all that.
Selected the XMP profile.
Changed the Frequency to 3200
Save and exit.

That should changed it, right? But it didn't in my case. It didn't hold. I worked with Asrock support and they told me to try 29xx, and it didn't work neither.

You have any trick that I am not doing?

What BIOS did you have installed? Later ones contained AGESA improvements that helped out the IMC and RAM parameters.

That's all I did. The only difference is speed because the RAM in my wife's machine only has a profile for 3000 not 3200.

I would try beers suggestion of updating to a newer BIOS release if you are not on the latest.

I am on P3.30 which is good for AMD 3000 generation and I am on 7 2700x, which is a second generation. I didn't update to the 3.40, figuring that if it works, don't fix it.

In theory anything up to 3.50 has something that may help, but at the same time I'm using 3.30 and it definitely works fine. Have you checked other things, like the voltages? Which may or may not be set by the profile selection. My system set the timings, I did not check the voltage but the auto selector seemed to imply it would be 1.2v not the 1.35 the profile wants.

It is possible if the 'overclock' fails its falling back to a jdec setting and booting. I don't know that's the case, just guessing.

I think it's that particular MB and I hope the one they are going to send me works. It shouldn't be that complicated.
AS in my luck, the Priority Mail package I sent is not delayed. Damn USPS.

Yea... I'm not surprised that it got delayed. Covid 19 is wreaking havoc on parcel services. Increase parcel volumes coupled with safety measures in the sorting plant means it's christmas levels of parcel volume with less staff efficiency to move the packages around.

I am starting to wonder if I had made a mistake sending the MO out.
I sent it 2-day delivery on the 20th. It is still sitting in a facility in Newark, NJ. ASRock gave me 30 days to return it. I hope it will make it within that period.
