hey guys!
I was wondering if anyone tried out the new beta for office 2007. i recently imaged restored my comp and now need office, because i lost my 2003 cds. just wondering if anyone had major problems with it.

There has been a thread on this before, it was released quite a while ago.

I used to have it, but I prefer Office 2003 much better. Personally I think that 2007 is to difficult at first to use the advanced features. And it took forever for me to find out where the "Save As" feature was :P

i used it before
and i had major problems .... working with pictures in word
i have to say it's a great improvement but it has A LOT of bugs
don't count on it
use 2003

It's good. It can be graphically intense sometimes if you have it over long periods of time.. The menus take a little bit of getting used to because its not what you are used to seeing.. other than that, a new GUI and it's now mostly all blue.

I installed it on a couple computers a few weeks ago, but I never really used it. The bit I tried it, though, it was ok. I don't care for all the eye candy microsoft has anymore, and the layout of it(just as with IE7) is totally different than the previous versions. I don't think there's some way to switch back to the more standard look...

As for other bugs and what not, I don't know. I never ran into any, but I more/less just looked around the interface.

Ive got it ont disc infront of me but im a bit too busy to install it and paly around with it, i will do it probably tomorrow.

thnks for the input guys, but my friend has a copy of office 2003 he can lend me so i will just use that. im not a fan of beta software anyways.

I used Office 2007 beta on Vista, and it's really nice. It fits into the Vista GUI, and all is well. Once you get used to some of the oddities in the GUI, it's really not that bad at all. I like how they changed the main font of the app too.

With that said, as I still use Xp as my main OS, I still use Office 2003 as my main office program. Office 2003 performs very well, and I like using it better because it's stable, and non time activated. (Risky). Office 2007 also, IMO, performs/looks poorly on Xp.

Yea, and the same goes for Vista too. I know a lot of people won't like things such as IE's new interface right away, but after a while, I'm sure they will change their minds. Microsoft is dropping support for Xp home in 2008 BTW.

I'm used to 97 :P

I used 97 on my Windows 95 laptop with a 133 MHz Pentium for a long time for school work when i didn't feel like working on my desktop.

yeah i have it 07 beta 2 but the menus will get you lost. You have to get use to it because it's a huge leap from 2003.But i find it cool.

I agree, I spent a good deal of time looking for a lot of even basic features. This will make it hard for a lot of corporations to migrate all their workers to the new software. I do like a lot of things in it though, like when making a chart, it has all the color schemes right there at the top.
