i was looking at buying an arctic VGA silence/cooler for my gfx card. i was looking at some reviews, one said that it was really loud, like a lawn mower, is this true? aint they ment to be quiet??

thanks

I would expect a Zalman VPU cooler to as good as the cpu coolers they make as well. They have a tendency to outdo the competition.

Newegg was apparently out of the Artic 64 Pro that a friend went after until... too late he already installed that when he saw the Zalman! Guess who is running it? I had previously taken a good look at the Artic Cooling model before grabbing the Zalman. For a look at the AC 64 Pro model, http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=80&disc=

(I went with the Zalman. :) I'm so glad...:D I'm so glad...:D !!!)

You do realise were talking about GPU cooling don't you?;)

Ya personally I have a zalman cpu cooler, but the artic silencers are some of the best, and quitest, gpu coolers available, and they exhaust the hot air out of the back, not just blow it around like the zalmans.

Apparently you didn't follow the thread close enough. But for a look at one Artic Cooler for vpu cooling they have a good one for NVidia cards seen at http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=91
Now for ATI models upto the X1950 series, http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=90 :D

Now for a look at a fanless super quiet Zalman heat tubed vpu cooler, http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=5&code=013

Well you went from talking about GPU cooling to CPU cooling, so I was confused.

I was simply making a comparison there between brands. Zalman also carries some good vpu coolers with fans as well as having fanless models available. To really go to the max you spend a bit more and go with a water cooled setup if you have room for the reservoir. But for something within reason a Zalman would work here without problems.
