fromEven though Socket F appears to have a lot of potential in store, the first Opterons that hook into it don't really seem to profit from that. The most positive conclusion we can draw is that the performance is roughly equal to that of Socket 940.
They do. They are listed under server motherboards, because they are, well, server motherboards.its kinda weird how newegg has the socket f processors but no motherboards
The boards themselves were scheduled for july 11th and pushed by AMD to the beginning of August according to some articles. One of those articles also had a report on the AM2 boards possibly being discontinued. Gee I'm glad I went with the 939 type board for the time being. That was found at http://www.techreport.com/onearticle.x/10192
Not the AM2 boards or processors, just the 1mb L2 X2s
They are directing everything towards the Opteron and FX models at this point leaving nothing new and high end for the AM2 boards. The 2mb L2 quad cores are coming while the 1mb L2 AM2s will be at a loss.
That's nice. But if I want to review articles on this I simply go to the following links for full coverage.

Gee the quad core models won't be seen on an AM2 board with DDR2 memory. It seems they will see the AM3 with DDR3 instead in late 2007 or 2008. I already expected 939 to go to the recycle bin soon enough anyways.
