No you need 184pin DDR RAM. The RAM you have linked is 240pin DDR2.

This list, minus any RAM that has ECC (you don't want ECC) is compatable stuff: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/s...ts&fromUrl=searchresultssummary&cmArea=SEARCH

There may be more in other speed grades, but PC3200 should match what you have in there already unless you've changed it.

i currently have 2 stick of 256mb on my system..... so if i get a stick of 512mb itll work right? or do i have to get another 2 stick of 256mb?

i was gonna get 1gig buts to0 expensive! 170 sumthin! i only have 100 gift! and if i happen to get a stick of 1gig..... itll work right? all i have to do is stick it in right?

Yes you can put 1 512 in but you will lose dual channel.

Not true. I had a 512 and a 256 MB at one time and it worked fine. I dont see why having 2x 256 + 1x 512 should work any different. As long as they are rated dual channle capable and low density (that means have 16 little black squars) it should work. Dual channle means haveing 2 sticks of RAM at the same time.

actually, you need the RAM to have exactly the same specs...
No you don't. The RAM will run at the slowest speed/timings if they are different. All that they need to be is the same size.

by same spec I meant size and speed... he said you can mix sizes as long as they both are double or single sided.

I had 1 GB and a 512MB. I'm not sure if you mix speeds if it will work, but it doesn't have to be 2 same sizes.

back again...

got dual channel 2 stick of 256mb....jus got 512stick... put it on.... check "my computer" says only 768mb! now rearange sticks.... check and says 256mb! check and says 512mb! check and say etc....

any idea??? theres 4 ram slot in my mobo.... 2 are blue and 2 are black im asuming the 2 blue is for dual channel.... anyway i dont need dual channel mode i jus want to get 1gig!

Try putting the 2 256MB sticks in adjacent slots (should be blue and black slots) and the 512 in one of the other slots.

2 blue slots on left.... 2 black slots on right

right now i tried 2 256 on black on the right and 1 512 on the blue slot on left right next to it

and it only says 256mb on the "my computer"!

edit = or is it cuz of the ram is different? the 2 256 stick has only 1 side and the other side is black but the new 512 stick has 2 sides... with each side has 8 black sqaure while the 2 256 has 8 black square only on 1 side...

another edit = oopz! thought i hit the edit button my bad... anyway can anyone help??? im going to shut down and rearange again

Do you know what you are saying? It isn't running in dual channel :). Mixing speeds will work, but not different sizes.

im suspictious.... on the back of the ram package it says:

compatible
ddr pc3200
ddr pc2700
ddr pc2100
power mac g5
(exept dual and quad)
mac mini

it says exept dual... doe sthis mena it wont work on me???

It's probably a single vs double sided thing then, sometimes they work together and sometimes they don't. You can try every possible configuration you can think of, if none work and you absolutely need 1GB either get another set pf 2x256 single sided or get a 512MB single sided stick (might be hard to find)
