Overclocking Info Questions

Okay so like I mentioned in an earlier post I was waiting for my mobo to return from gigabyte rma and I was having so overclocking problems:

http://www.computerforum.com/67095-more-overclocking-issues.html

So I have it back and now its working fine. I just have a few questions;

1 - I dont have money to buy a new cpu fan at the moment so, whats the max speed I can clock it to with the stock fan? I heard about 3.0? Correct??

2 - How will I know when I have to change my voltage?

3 - And what should I do to make sure its stable? I have 3DMark06 Basic.

4 - And what can I use to monitor how hot my cpu is and to what temperature sould it not exceed?

Thanks.

How do I delete a thead I created?

1. It differs with each individual CPU, of course, but 3Ghz sounds about right

2. Up the voltage once it becomes unstable. Be careful when using the stock cooler, though. Overvolting causes significant temperature increases. I wouldn't push the voltage too far, and always keep an eye on temperatures

3. Run two instances of Prime95 (one on each core) for a few hours

4. Try Speedfan

ok, thanks ill try that prime95. also I got speedfan and it has a little fire logo on temp1 @ 51 Celsius is that something I should be concerned about? lol

Idle or load? If it's a load temp, it's OK. If not - post a load temp.

is load temp when I just restart it? Or have it off for a while? Well when I restarted it, it was still at 51C.

Load temp is when the CPU is doing something (such as running two instances of Prime95). That's a little high for an idle temp. Have you already overclocked it? Overvolted it?

ok i havent ran the prime95 yet. and I have overclocked it, to 2.8 but I havent touched the voltage yet. i was told before that u dont need to unless there is problem (change voltages).

when I got up this morning. In the results for the Prime95 i found. "2048K passed". I was only about 53% complete after 8 hrs. but I set that one setting to 15 so now I assume it was gonna go for 15 hrs.

Also, I checked the temp and it was at 46c after sitting all night, except for the prime95 running.

Are there any problems here?

i think your should post a screen shot of the speed fan window for us to see. what other temps are speedfan reading?

52C at idle!!!

You need better cooling

werd, but wait till he sees what the other programs read. speed fan on my 4400+ is not correct either. i use coretempbeta program on my cpu which seems to be more accurate for me.

i brought it back down to 2.8 (thats where I had it set all night) and this is what i got.

speedfan-1.jpg

and the voltage is set to normal "1.32500V"
