Difference between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo

Which is better, the Core Duo or Core 2 Duo?

And I heard that there are socket 478 version of Core Duo, is that true?

-_-, obviously Core 2 Duo is better, I don't think they sell Core Duos anymore, I can't seem to find them in new computer stores, I think can you only get them second hand.

I have seen some new cheap laptops come with them, i guess they're trying to fool the buyer into think it is a core 2 duo

from what i understand the core 2 duos performance is only 10-15% higher than a similar core duo although i cant remember where i heard this. you can also still buy core duo mobile processors on newegg.com. i hear the core 2 duo mobile processors aren't as power hungry though

all laptops are 32-bit thats y theres are 32 and 64 bit edition for new vista os.

No there not, most laptops are 64-Bit.

Core duos weren't as widely used as core 2 duo. It's almost completely used for laptops and are sometimes advertised as "dual centrino". My dad's laptop has a core duo processor.

Core Duo doesn't have slower FSB. Both Core duo and Core 2 duo have 667MHz FSB or 533MHz (depending on the model)

I realized that after looking at CPU-z on my laptop. I was thinking that the Core Duo's had 533 on most of their models.
