but honestly thats probably for medium or low settings at best

Heres the laptop plan...

Unfortunately I dont think bungie will make halo 2 dx9 any more. I remember esp licitly that their FAQ had a question of if it will be dx9 or dx10 and they answered both, but they have ceased to have that question any more. Although, I doubt there will be a laptop with an 8800 in it, so it doesnt matter. :P However, If they do make it dx9, I think your rig will handle it fine. Judging off of the minimum specs of crisis and other dx10/dx9 games. :)

Me hopes for dx9!!!

That was posted may 30th 2006, times may have changed. I would reserve it and then if microsoft changes their mind about dx9 just get your money back. :/

And i have to ask, why would you want to play Halo 2 specifically on a laptop? that in itself doesnt make sense to me. I would want the best playing experience.

Well some people here dont like to read so...the bungie link said they want this as many people as possible.
They said it'll be written to play the new DX10 but also DX9...If you even read the Q&A....
Granted, it was in November, but i doubt that they changed there minds and only wanted people with really only one version of DX10 out to play this...

And I also doubt that the requirements will be higher then crysis...

And the laptop i plan on purchasing looks like it can handle the game quite well.

Whats wrong with wanting to play halo2 on a laptop? If the specs are good then...there shan't be a problem...
Since the specs of the laptop are quite great...

But why do you need a laptop in the first place? if you need one for portability, then a good gaming one is out of the question. If you need a good gaming one, then use your desktop. And if you plan on playing H2 on a lappy, dont expect it on highest settings.

That link worked last night...
Bungie mentioned, they want H2V to be available to as many people as possible. Then said, the game will be written for the new DX10, but also for DX9
