AMD loosing earnings

*shrug*, it was loss making in 06, and only just profitable in 05.
its not profit that matters, its cash flow :)

HAHA..YES!! No more AMD, this will allow greater progress in CPU technology. Intel actually researches stuff, and quickly, AMD just tries to keep up and improve on the ancient history. But, wait, if AMD is gone, I cannot hate on them anymore.

So Intel having a market monopoly would be a good thing? What would happen to the prices of their products?

hardly, there onboard memory controller, shorter pipelines, better thermal envelope meant AMD lead the way for a long time. Oh and they brought the first X2 before intel true dual cores (if memory serves my right)

just out of curiosty why do you hate AMD?

The last thing we want is for AMD to go out of business (it wont happen anyway). That would mean intel having a monopoly over the market. Without AMD intel wouldnt keep being pushed to bring out newer and better processors. The healthy competition between them is what keeps the market moving

Well put. AMD was the leader in desktop processors before Intel's Core architecture was out, since the A64 series was much more efficient per clock, put out alot less heat, onboard memory controller, and much more. While Intel was using the high clocked netburst architecture, which really horrible, especially when compared clock for clock with an A64.

IF, IF AMD goes down then there will be another company pop up and just change the world around a bit. Kinda like the old Power PC processors.

no way will they disappear, they have too many distribution contract, and manufacturing capacity, plus they just merged with ATI and are targeting different platforms.

still curious as to why the hatred towards AMD though, have they personally offended you in some way?

I have no preference either way and when choosing a processor i go with whatever is in my price bracket and offers the best performance at the time. It just so happens thats AMD at the moment in my machine.

wow..it looks like you know what you're talking about...maybe you should "actually research stuff" like you claim intel does

intel has been reducing the manufacturing process every 18 months since quiete a few years back (ie 90nm->65nm->soon to 45nm)

I dont have anything against intel, I'm just saying he doesnt do his research, and "hates" a company based on what seems to be no or very little data, however, I may be wrong...

AMD just this december came out with their first 65nm core. intel did that in june. there is a big R&D industry inside intel
