which is the best AM2 Proccessor?

I never saw newegg list it as a single core, doesnt matter, if you know your processors you would know its a Dual Core!

When looking at the product details lately single core was in the description. Someone must have soon realized the goof and corrected that fast. The sad story of the AM2 line is only having that one fx model while the 939 boards saw a several with the FX-60 as the one dual core there. When going to grab that it was gone for good. You may find one of those at EBay only at this time. But since the X2 is good line for a work horse build it won't matter that there's only one fx in the AM2 lineup.

The FX 53,55 and 57 were all single core, the FX 60 was the only Dual core 939 and why would you even want a Single Core FX for AM2

The point there was to show that the only dual core model in the 939 fx line was the FX-60. The only fx AM2 model is the FX-62. That's kind of limited for the newer line of boards since that's the performance line of cpus. The 6000+ X2 just happens to be the top model in the X2 lineup. You saw more models for 939 and not AM2? AMD made a goober there.

I dont think they made a goober, the FX 62 has been out awhile, by the time they brought out the 5400-5600 and the 6000 there was really no point making another FX since the Barcelona-Agena and Kuma is coming out later this year. I would say the Windsor core will be discontinued by the end of the year. Its already being replaced one model at a time by the Brisbane core.

They are more interested in gearing for their quad core line at this time with the FX-74 and other eventual models coming out. They put more models out for 939 since that was new dual channel 64bit type of board being realized and somewhat skimped on the AM2 line. The quad core line is a different socket type to begin with there.

No the X4 Phenom Agena and the X2 Phenom Kuma will run a AM2 and a AM2+ board. AM2 processors will run on a AM2 and AM2+ board. AM2+ processors will run on a AM2, AM2+ board. AM3 processors will only run on a AM3 board because they will be DDR3, but AM3 wont be out till sometime later in 2008.

AMD's method to keep up with Intel's quad cores was to come out with a two socket board to run two dual core models rather then one single quad core model. The big difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is what? Memory speed! Those are still 240pin dimms running from 800-1066mhz. The socket type will still be the same with the faster fsb by the looks of things.

Thats fine and dandy, does not have anything to do with anything, but ok? When you make a statement like a Athlon FX 62 is a single core and that a AM2 and AM2+ are different sockets, they will have different capabilities but there the same socket and then you just start making rambling on post!

The only one even mentioning anything about AM2 and AM2+ is you. So who's the one that is "rambling on"? You fit the bill there.

This whole thread is about AM2, and you said a FX 62 was a single core and that AM2 and AM2+ was different type sockets, the sockets are the same with different capabilities. Like I said ramble on!

Yoiur the one rambling on about the FX-62 that someone made a typo on. That was later corrected by someone at newegg there. That was seen when simply browsing through the models they had available recently but you continue to harp on that instead of moving on.

Any liquid cooling setup gets up in price over what is needed for a stock system. Having a good 3rd party cooler on good is always a plus if you place heavy loads on a stock cpu anyways. If you leave the system running day and night you would want the additional cooling inplace. One important thing to note on the newer boards however is having better air flow throughout the case itself. That helps keep the board and other temps down as well as the cpu's.

the price of my liquid cooling was under $100

Listen whether if newegg had it as a single core or not, which I doubt! Its you thinking it was a single core and posting it as one because of newegg, it shows me alot. And show me where you found AM2 and AM2+ were different socket designs. But I guess its all typos isnt it.

That Oil setup looks just like the one swimming around on Video Stumbleupon.. That isn't you is it? And while we're on the subject how are the temps with that?

nope I dont even know what "Video Stumbleupon" is, thats my computer that im on right now. unsure of temps with the cooling, I need to buy some bigger pumps to pump that oil..

hehe, do you have to replace the oil on a regular basis? I just noticed the thread in your sig but can't fathom reading through just to find this out...

I was unable to find a for sure answer on that.. some people say yearly, some say every two years, some say never.. I have a prety tight seal on it so it does not get contaminated, so im sure it will last a long time.. as long as moisture and particles dont get in I think it will be fine..

so its not every 3 months or 3000 downloads...lol.. like a car
