Opensuse 10.3

I know. But, Usually Suse has 5 or 6 discs. So, That is strange. I wonder if 10.3 is going to be live CD. That would be cool!

The other couple of Cds are usually just packages (which you would other wise be able to get through yum).

The other CDs arn't necesary it just mean you wont be able to install all your packages and will have to install them later. e.g. If CD2 contains openoffice but you don't have cd 2 it just means that after instilation you'll have to go (if you want openoffice that is)

Code:
sudo yum install openoffice

Correct me if i'm wrong but Suse does use yum? I'm on ubuntu so i'm using apt.

NO, the other cd's are not packages ,but mainly system files, and suse does not use yum, FEDORA uses YUM, suse uses YAST or SMART.there is no way you're gonna instal suse with 1cd. unless you chose base system only which stil requires the other cd. So let's say you're installing Openoffice with cd1 it will ask you for cd2 too.Packages are spead amongst cd so you can't tell which cd contains OO or whatsoever

Wow, sorry. I was just thinking along the lines of fedora using rpm and so does suse. I made a mistake but im sure the readers still get the ideas of

Code:
sudo XYZ install openoffice

And if openoffice where to be split on 2 and 3 (and you only had 1 and 2) it wouldn't let you install openoffice so you would just run yast after instilation.
