this will be my first one i'm building i've had one before that recently died.
i have about 1200-1500 dollars to spend, less is best. I'll be useing it for gaming like BF2142, AOC, CS, Oblivion etc...

Motherboard - Biostar TForce590sli deluxe AM2
www.newegg.com $132.99

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.0GHz 2x 1MB L2 Cache
www.newegg.com $169.99

Hard Drive - HITACHI Destar T7k500 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0 BG/s
www.newegg.com $68.99

RAM - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Model-F2-6400CL4D-2GBHK www.newegg.com $94.99

Video Card - EVGA GeForce 8600GT 128-bit GDDR3
Model- 512-P2-N757-TR www.newegg.com $149.99

PSU - OCZ GameXStream 700w
www.newegg.com $139.99

Now i know i don't have any CD drives, but i was thinking of just saving that bit more money on just useing the old ones from my old computer. They would be about 2 years old. Also i wanted to use my old Hard Drive cause i have so much on there i wouldn't want to download again. Also the old cords i already have in there to plug all the drives in and such, could i just keep them? or will these new parts come with the cords to plug it all in?

Any thoughts on this build and my idea of just useing my old parts?
Thanks for your time!!

What Os are you going to be using? If your going Vista, you should consider bumping those 2gigs of ram up to 4gigs...

I'll be going with XP for now since i already have the installation CD for it already. and i dont like downloading illegal OS never know what'll happen. once AOC comes out i'll upgrade for more ram and get vista MAYBE

hmm i'll think on that motherboard, seems good cause i might upgrade to 2 8600gt in the future once i get more money.

and that CPU, are you saying i should get that one instead of the one i posted about or i should get that one if i get that motherboard?

well the only thing you will have to do is just call Microsoft to activate it unless u have a corporate license

ahh ok, well that would make life easier, think i'll be sticking with XP for awhile longer, probably till microsoft stops supporting it.

u should get it even if u don't get the other mother board because the 4200 is to old and slow and u know the modo that u want to get is out of stock?

no i did not relise that motherboard was out of stock, yesterday was all good to go lol thanks for the heads up

ok i'll switch out the CPU then and i'll put in that CPU, and also that motherboard if i can i was wanting to get this all ordered by today.

i just checked the motherboard you said with my other stuff, and i think it is compatiable is this true?

and another question sorry, you think a mid tower should fit this all in there? i'm wanting to use my old case save just that much more money.

I think that everything will fit in a midtower case but just a fyi that mobo is a open box so all it is, is just the motherboard no cables or accessories

ok, thats what i was afraid of. thats why i wanted to use the cables from my old computer, and i can't what am i looking for in cables or does it matter and where would i get them

This will be the finish product what you do you guys think?

I would change the motherboard to this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128050

And CPU to this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029

E6750 outperforms 6000+ easily at stock speeds, and it overclocks better as well

And don't waste your money on that 8600GT because you can get 8600GTS for cheaper price

Yeah it would be nice if you can fit a 8800 in the budget ..

turned i was able too, it came to around $1100 give or take a few bucks

i'll prob go with this unless i can figure something else

think i need to look little bit mor einto take chupa list, jabes and maroons list into account and com eup with something total kickass.

Here is what I came up with,

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L - $109.99 (It's out of stock right now but if you could wait until 10/08/07)
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128059
Otherwise, you could go with maroon1's suggestion

EVGA GeForce 8800GTX - $529.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814130072
OR
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640mb - $369.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130071

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 - $194.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819115029

G.Skill 2GB(2x1GB) DDR2-800 - $69.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231098

Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB - $74.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16822136074

LITE-ON w/ LightScribe - $36.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827106073

Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer - $80.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16829102006

Arctic Silver 5 - $5.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835100007

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - $19.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835186134

Total: $1123.91 (w/ 8800GTX) or $963.91 (w/ 8800GTS)

I am not sure whether you need a monitor or not.
ACER 20" 5ms - $189.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009108

Just add that to the total price and you should be set. :)

Note: This total price is before shipping. I would say add another $20 as a rough estimate.

hey man, youd be much better off going with a single 8800 card rather than two 8600s. the benchmarks i have seen with two 8600s in SLI compared to a single 8800 were almost embarassing for SLI.

Also for amd if you want SLI for the "future", get the nForce 590 but i wouldn't get the biostar board go with something like asus, foxconn, or gigabyte. For Intel i would aim for the nForce 680 (the 680 is basicly a renamed 590 for intel) since they both support linkboost and are capable of 16x16 speed as apposed to 8x8 with any lower models
