Yeah, CRT no doubt gives off radiation. What's debated is whether or not it's harmful, and apparently for them it was. Were they opening monitors up and poking around inside?




Also, why would they make a product that claims to lower bad cholesterol for people who aren't eating greasy foods?

It is just a healthy oil supplement... When your not eating the 'bad' oils, you have to replace it with something, no?


I too, have seen these marketing schemes of diet products, I could give you a very good diet plan and I will, "Eat less, Exercise more"
 
Actually a LOT of stuff gives off radiation. I learned in chemistry last year, that even wood gives off small amounts of radiation, and you're even born with some radiation in you...and it's all fine. It won't hurt a thing, unless it gets to a dangerous level (using a monitor/watching tv wont cause it to get to a dangerous level...)

also, according to my mom, who (unfortunately) is starting to become a health freak, omega 3 is good for you.
 
The bottles the woman brought home had little squares at the bottom that said "This product not reviewed by the FDA. This product not intended to diagnose, cure, treat or prevent any disease." Or something like that.
 
thats nothing, it only means that the FDA does not think it is necessary to perform a huge check on the pills because they have found no cases of the pills negatively affecting people. im happy to say though that i take no pills, but every day i ride 6 miles on the highest difficulty on the bikes at the gym, then do my 3 mile paper route, so im as healthy as anyone around here :P :P :P :P

EDIT: oh and what on earth would oil cure anyways? its a supplement not a medicine lol
 
Many monitors built before 1992 did indeed give off lots of radiation. After that, there were some tough rules established that drastically cut down the amount to the point where it's negligable... as long you only were sitting in the front. It's at the rear where the high-voltage sections are that could give off soft X-rays if the HV parts were not shielded. Ask any old-timey TV repairman.
Modern CRT monitors and LCD screens do not have this problem.

lmao if you turn it to that GHZ it wont be giving off radiation it will be burning your eyes out with gamma rays!!! lol
 
All CRT screens give off radiation they use radiation to control the pixels. The glass is made thick enough so you get no dose at a certain distance from your screen. The human body is designed to get rid of a certain amount of radiation. Women these days sunbathe that much that they get equal to being surrounded by a million crt screens all day for their life time thats why they look dry and crispy when they reach 30yrs.
