Overclocking the E6850

I just started overclocking my E6850 and would like to know how far can you raise the FSB before you have to increase the cpu voltage. Right now I've done a mild overclock by raising it to 1433 to achieve a 3225mhz.

Lemme check... I have a Gigabyte board so it might be different for you... Make sure you disable Speedstep...

EDIT: Right now I am at 1440 with stock volts(1.27v). Gives me a nice 3.24Ghz... I might be able to go higher... I am testing stability with Orthos right now.. I will let that run for around 15min

It wont hurt it, but it might not post the first few times because the mothebroard might not like that big of a gap, go to like 2.8, boot up,, restart then 3.2 then 3.6 GHz etc...

Thanks IntelCrazy

Alright, Orthos for 15min... I am stable.. Not bad for stock volts and around 240Mhz increase, I didn't know it could do that. I got it to 3.74Ghz with 1.35v. I am gonna push for more on stock voltage... Gimme another second or two..

can it hurt my quad if i did a big jump like 2.4 to 3.6

You'd have to hit up your voltage... But, you are on watercooling right?

EDIT: I have Orthos running now and I am pushing for 3.33Ghz stock voltage. 330Mhz increase wow... around 10% increase

2nd EDIT: I have ran Orthos for 15min now and 3.33Ghz Stable at 1.27v(Stock)... So now you should have a general idea... I am keeping this clock...

ya i have water cooling does any one know the exact fsb for 3.6ghz and the voltage for q6600 b3

i think i can hit higher then that but should i?

Hey Intelcrazy did forget about getting back to me? Also I thought stock voltage for the E6850 was 1.35 volts.

What!? mine is running at 1.28v.... I have not messed with my voltage and I am hitting 3.4Ghz... I think the most you should go to on stock volts is 378Mhz...

at 3.1 with my quad i have pushed it up .700mhz from 2.4

a e6850 stock is 3.0ghz

plus i have 2 more cores and im pretty happy with my temps although i have a small case
