Dell or Samsung 22"

I'm going to get a 22" widescreen lcd in a week or so and was wondering out of these two should i get the Samsung 226BW or the Dell E228WFP ?

I have the dell, I like it. How ever, the Dell has a lower contrast ratio, but it doesn't make that much of a difference. As for price, I got mine when it was $250 rather than the $300 it is now, so it wasn't more than the Samsung. Also, the Dell has a normal lcd screen, different to the Samsung, which has a glossy screen. It's basically a preference of screen type.

Those LG panels are the fastest on the market right now. The backlight also automatically adjusts itself based on the brightness of what's on your screen. In other words, it compensates for its own backlight bleeding, to the extent where it's a non-issue. That's rare for LCDs. And, it's only 280 bucks at Best Buy, where you can change it out through January if it has a dead pixel or something. Ordering a monitor online is a risky endeavor.

Both the Dell and the Samsung have matte coating, not glossy. The Samsung's bezel (the casing the panel is housed in) is glossy, but not the screen itself.

I dont have a Best buy in town though, and i dont exactly want to order a monitor online. I can get the dell in town. I guess it will just depend on what deals are going on after christmas.

Well i read some more reviews on the 226BW and basically you can either get the S panel witch is the good one or the A panel with bleads through alot i guess and the quality isnt to sharp so since its a 50% chance you'll get a good monitor and 50% chance you'll get a crappy one I dont think i'll end up trying to get it unless theres a really good deal on it after christmas which i doubt there will be. There arent really any stores in town where i can get monitors and i dont exactly want to order one online because then i would have to pay to have it shipped back for replacement and what not. So that just basically leaves the Dell which i can get at Walmart in town so i dont have to buy it online plus i can return it if there are dead pixels. They also have a 3 year warranty and if they cant help you over the phone with a problem your having with the monitor as long as it is still in warranty they will send you a new one the next day. So its a 95% chance i'll get the Dell 22".

Crappy?! No sir! :P My hanns-g has worked wonders. No dead pixels, clear image and good contrast. Not to mention they look slick!! :D

I will it just depends on what sales are going on after christmas and if there arent any good ones really i'll probably just get the Dell. I've talked to someone who had one and he's a hardcore gamer and he liked it. Besides i'm not a "hardcore" gamer so it wont exactly matter a hole lot. I do game alot but i dont have a great graphics card so i wont get great graphics anyways. They look sweet and they have a good warranty plus like i've said i can get it local.
