wat do u prefer Nvidia or ATI

I want to see the new drivers, too. I think ATI sees that their hardware isn't recognized to be as good, I think they are trying to make up with better drivers. I still don't like Catalyst Control Center, so I use a bit of common sense and don't use it

The ONLY thing i use CCC for is to OC :P

Also one thing i would like to point out, nVidia has slightly "cheated" with their drivers. They sacrafice some image quality to get a few more FPS so it looks good on paper, and benchmarks. This has been posted all over the net. I personally would like the more eye candy than the bragging right of a few FPS, which a very small OC can make up the difference with the plus of some wanted eye candy.:rolleyes:
 
The price difference between the HD3870 and the 8800GT is around $AU50 here, that's why Nvidia is the better choice from the two.
 
ATi cards are generally more cheaper as they should be, but the difference is not big, that is why I like Nvidia so much, its not because I'm a nvidia fanboy. I will go out there and buy the product with the best price for its performance, I don't care which company its from, I just want bang for my buck.
 
Wait, the 3870 is the best for Price/Performance...

I have personally used both cards, and i can say i was not impressed with what the GT had to offer, all the games seemed to be "dull" to me. Part of why i made my decision.

90% of the people that say things like you and how they "suck" have never seen or had hands on experience with the card. Most say these things because they either own a nvidia card, or just go by what the "see" online :rolleyes:.

You can't go wrong with either card. ;)

Nvidia all the way! I've owned 2 ATI cards and 1 Nvidia card, and the Nvidia whiped the floor with the other 2 as far as stability and compatability. Oh, so many compatability issues with ATI, not to mention they are generally more expensive.

*edit* the ATI cards I've owned were the Radeon 9500 256mb DDR2 PCI-e and an ATI x1300 512mb DDR2 AGP; the Nvidia was PNY Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT 256mb DDR2 PCI-e. I had too many compatibility issues with the ATI series, and my Nvidia card is 3 years old now, and it can play Half Life 2 at medium/high settings @1280x800 60 hz with about 55-60 fps. So I find Nvidia to be more reliable.

am not into gaming anymore and long ago i fancied ATI but these days all i here is GForce this , GForce that, 8800GT or whatsoever. :P
might as well go with Nvidia :D
 
I have not personally tried to overclock the HD3870, but from past experience with the X800GT and 9600 pro, ATi has really atrocious overclocking overheads, while Nvidia cards are capable of very massive overclocks. That's what I don't really like about ATi, and plus Nvidia has bigger market share and most games these days are in the "how its meant to be played" program which basically means that those games will be optimised for Nvidia cards.

hmmm. weird, i'm playing all my source games (i still don't have the orange box) on max settings at 1024x768 with my 7300gs.
 
i want the hd3850. can't afford the 3870. anyone have the 3850, is it any good? it's going to be a huge step up from my 7300gs.

Yeah, well.. they have changed over the years. I had the x800, and im sure those models were horrible overclockers ;)

These 3870's, with voltmods are getting over 1ghz on air

You like that ATI is being monopolized by Nvidia, eh? I would like to hear that if/when Nvidia takes over and prices go sky-high.
 
Believe it or not, "Valve and NVIDIA have entered into an agreement to collaborate on development, distribution, events, and more. " worries me, because it seems AMD/ATi is losing alot of ground and market share. Valve had been very close with AMD/ATi in the past, the Half life series games are optimised for ATI cards, I do not know how this new agreement affects that. Half life is one of the few games that is actually optimised for ATi, most games are new part of the "how its meant to be played" program which means optimisation for Nvidia cards. AMD/ATi are not competing very well against Nvidia a lack of competition will lead to higher prices and slow innovation. I think we are beginning to see abit of that with the 8800GTX, it reined supreme for so long and now the 9 series have been delayed repeatedly. It seems that AMD/ATi has given up on the high end of the market, which is very disappointing to see. I really do not want AMD/ati to fail because Nvidia being a monolopy is a pretty bad scenario.
 
Crossfire and Sli

My dear friends, I personally own both a crossfire and an sli system... CF with x1650pros, x2 5200, and 2G of pqi turbo ddr2800. and SLI with C2D E6750, 7600GTs,and 2g of pqi turbo ddr2800. boards are very close as everything else is identical. I have to say that at this point Nvidia has the edge with the top of the maket as does Intel, BUT yes there is a but... My Amd/Ati system cost significantly less than my Intel/Nvidia system,and for your average gamer the Ati/Amd system is exponentially better than the current system most guys are plugging away with! You can read the charts as well as I can but as a day to day user/browser/gamer, theres not a dang bit of difference. Conclusion Ati for your budget guys Nvidia for the guys with the deep pockets, keep in mind the old saying is true you do get what you pay for!!
