Well I was going to get a cold cathode or two for my case...until I was reading some reviews on them.
The product in question can be FOUND HERE.
I know this is only a few reviews out of the hundreds, but either way it's just absolutely ridiculous, and I'm not taking that chance.
So I figured I would move on to some other similar product, by the same company. FIND IT HERE.
This product looked really cool, even nicer than the Cold Cathodes...oh but wait, I forgot, this also is [apparently] a fire hazard.
I can't even believe this stuff. I would usually just say "Oh well, probably a rare occasion that'll never happen to me" but after seeing that there's 4 reviews like this ...I'm not taking my chance.
So NOW I'll move on to LED Lights, which brings me to my question:
Should I buy a higher quality Cold Cathode....or just go with an LCD...like this.

Within the first day of having this CCFL in my computer, I started to smell what smelled like a burning electric motor. I thought it was coming from my monitor, and eventually it went away. This morning, the smell comes back, I look inside my case, and I see the CCFL shorting out, while the inverter was OFF! The insulation is completely burned through, and one of the wires is melted.

I noticed an odor of burnt wiring one day. Thought it was coming from my new power supply. I for some reason looked down at the blue controller and saw the outside case had a colored brown spot on it. I touched the case of the lightbar controller and the thing burnt my finger it was that hot. I opened the label that said dont cut or void warranty. Screw that.. The circurlar converter coil inside was bad causing it generated enough heat to burn thru the main controller board and half way thru the outer case. Almost killed my new computer by burning. Almosted wasted $1000 dollors worth of hardware for coolness. Use LED's. Much safer!!!
I ordered 2, one was DOA, and the other one burned through its insulation inside of 5 muinites.
