Iv recently lost my computer to a flood(kinda) and need to build a new one. Im looking to build a pc that can handle higher end games. This is what I have in mind.
MotherBoard:ASUS M2A-VM Socket AM2 uATX Mainboard (66.99)
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad-Core HD9500WCGDBOX(209.99)
Dual Channel Memory: Crucial 2GB(1GBx2) DDR2 667 (42.00)
PCI-E Video Card
owerColor HD 3870 PCS 512MB GDDR4 VD(259.99)
SATA Hard Drive: One Seagate ST380815AS 80GB SATA(41.49)
Antec Nine Hundred 900 Computer Case 87.99
Logisys 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Silent SLI Ready, (64.99)
Subtotal for Directron.com- ***773.44*** Roughly $900 After tax and testing.
Im not a expert on how the cores help a computer process...so I guess my main question is for gaming....does a quad core matter? Also is there anything I can do it upgrade or improve anything I have there for the same or of a lower cost? Also will that powersupply be enough, or will I need something with more watts? Im also looking to xfire and overclock a bit down the road.
Any help or advice would be great.
