aww u gotta to be kidding me. So we have to pay sales tax and we dont get rebates. Wtf?!!
Well, if you live in CA, TN, or NJ, you have to pay sales tax on your orders. *But* I'm beginning to think that the whole "Void where taxed" thing is nothing. That is standard language on all rebate forms, and I think it means something other than what I was thinking (i.e. "Void where you pay sales tax on the order"). I think it means something like "Void if the rebate itself is subject to tax." That or something completely vague and useless. I found this online:
-----
Void where prohibited or taxed
A standard disclaimer common on e.g. American coupons. A full disclaimer containing this line might read "One time use only. Valid at participating GNC stores only. No cash value. Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. "(taken from a Soy coupon).
The reason that disclaimers even exist is that the US uses the British legal system, i.e. making vague laws and then letting the courts decide how they should be followed from case to case, as opposed to the French legal system, where laws are meant to be so clear that they can easily be understood and followed.

At any rate, Newegg is my only option for most components, so I'll just send in the rebate forms and hope to get a check back.
