Thoughts on these four monitors?

GTG means Grey to Grey, so yes it can go from grey to grey in 2ms. Now for other colors, it varies...

"Grey" in that context doesn't actually mean what you'd think grey is, a mixture of black and white. It's referring to any color that is not pure black or pure white.

Basically they find the fastest response time possible between any two colors the monitor can display and then try to market that as an accurate cross-section of the monitor's response times, which of course it is not.

So yes, it's a marketing scheme, but I don't know where "6-10" comes from.

Both are ok. I have the 226WTQ and it's amazing.

I saw this one at Best Buy yesterday (although all but maybe two of their monitors weren't even on, including this one!). But it had "BF" (I believe) at the end of the model number. Does this change it drastically?

No. That's probably what he was referring to. When I say L196W in my signature, I mean L196WTQ-BF, but the numbers on the end just tend to be consistent throughout the product line, so there's no real need to say them every time.

The Acer's aren't fantastic, I'll give you that, but I've got the 24¨ version of the one you're showing and it's completely fine. Crap is harsh. Crap in comparison with a monitor costing half again probably, but it's easy on my eye now I've adjusted, and it's plenty quick enough.

As for worries about ordering online, if you buy from any decent company (and probably the smaller ones aswell) they have big departments devoted to sorting you out. If I recieve broken stuff I email or call them, explain the problem, they say send it back, I write a detailed note of the problem, stick it in the box, and usually recieve a replacement within a couple of days. I admit I prefer buying from shops as I can go in a shout at them until I get my way, but is it worth the usually much higher price?
