Worst Rip-Off

Lol guys, you're gonna love this one. So today, we went to someone's house to check their computer which was running slow. While in the process of fixing it, we asked him where he had bought that computer (which was old and somebody had built it for him). He told us "some guy" came to the house and offered it. After a little talk, we asked how much he paid for it. ANyways, to the point.

It was a Pentium 4, some Foxconn mobo, 256MB of PC3200, 80GB HDD....

We calculated that he paid around $400 w/ the monitor (17" LCD). And him, knowing nothing about computers, was red as a tomato as he told us the actual amount that he paid.

He frickin paid $3,000 US for that piece of trash...

We were literally like

Cant believe how theres actually people who take advantage of customers like that....

that's terrible. i sorta feel sorry for the guy. :(

well, it's his fault too for buying it from a stranger who came up to his doorstep. he should've bought it at a real retail store pre-built if he didn't know anything about computers.

He wasn't a customer, he was a target. As red and obvious a target as when you told him the real price. :D

I say he's a schmuck, for getting pulled in by a door-to-door "computer salesman". Even my mom would know better than that, hopeless as she is! :P

That is horrible and sad. I could never do that to another person, but not everyone is me.

All I can say is, OH MAN!! If he has this guys number call him and see if he could stop by and check the computer for something. When he walks in beat him with the stack!

It's sad that not a lot of people understand about computers. however as the computer world moves along people will have to understand a little more about them.

For some reason this stuff comes easy for me whenever i am asked how i learned all this i'm not sure how to answer.

Best Regards,
Francisco

Well yeah you're right. He was no customer but more of a prey...

But, the guy wasn't a complete stranger, as I understood I think he was his son's friend or something... I don't know. Point is now he has to pay $100 monthly for a bit less than three years... :o He said he had already paid one year so that's a good $1200 with which as we all know, could've built a kickass rig... ;)

Really. That's evil man, I'd kill the moron next time he came over with his son, maybe bury him nekkid next the POS he sold him..

Or. If this "contract" isn't in writing, I'd just stop paying. F*ck him. Maybe you could be his next consultant (for real, this time), if he has $3000 to blow on a mystery box, you could buy him 10x better for half of it, making alittle on the side while you at it.

wow...3000 bucks for that. I hope someone nails that B****** and he ends up in jail. Who nkows how many "great" things he sells for that kinda cash. Although like said, common sense.

I can't believe no one has asked this yet (unless I missed it), but how old is the computer?

If he just bought it a few months ago, then yes it was a huge rip-off. However the P4's have been out for 8 years, so if he bought his computer 7-8 years ago, then that system would have been considered high end, and I don't actually see $3,000 being that outrageous.
