Since you changed your MB, are you sure your standoffs are correctly in place? I had a similar problem and it was because I had a screw that was kind not in a good place. I'm not sure that's the case but it could also be another failing PSU, is there anyway you can try it on another computer?

Normally no, I also had a problem with standoffs when I built my first computer. So putting the six standoffs should do it.

ATX boards should have 6 standoffs. Mine came with the case though. You should also have a manual with the case explaining where the standoffs should be.

I wouldn't trust any tool that will mess with auto updates or just updates in fact. Like Aldan said, you can set a time when it will update. If you don't, it will happen when you don't use your computer. Have you tried looking through the settings?
