I second this, you would benefit far more from an SSD than putting 8GB more RAM in your system that will, in all likelihood, go completely unused.

By partitioned the drive do you mean you deleted the old partition, created a new one, formatted the new partition and did a clean install of the OS?

By hardware store I think they meant a place that sells tools, wood, plumbing fixtures, etc. not computer hardware stores.

You could get the 4GB RAM upgrade and stick with the 64GB SSD if you want to save money, because that will come out to $1099. If you're willing to spend the extra $100 though buy the $1199 one with the 4GB of RAM and the 128GB SSD because at that point it's $100 more for double the storage...
