    php help

PHP isn't my native computer language but it looks alright to me. The Great thing about coding though is that if it doesn't work you can go back and fix it. Try it out and see if it works. Be prepared to debug though... you almost always will. EDIT: Actually I do see a couple of typos in...

Folding@Home: Hit a personal milestone? Share it here!

I ran 11 (old) computers and xboxs (tried gamecubes, they had some issues) with this for a few months a little over a year ago. Got over 250 wu and almost 40k points... Then the electric bill got too high ;) ... but still, recycling old computers for this purpose looked really good on a...

    reformatting

In Dells I believe the BIOS key is F2 (at least that's what it was on my old Dell machine). You may need to reset the bios if it somehow got passworded and you can't access it. You can do this by uplugging the machine and removing the button cell on the motherboard, waiting a minute, and...

Could I have a virus in my bios?

What he said. Also, make sure the CD is in good condition and not absolutely destroyed, since that has caused a wide range of problems for me installing new OSes.

Connecting Device to Internet Using a PC

What he said. Also, you may need to set the IPs on the PC and media player. It's what I've always had to do.

which operating system do you prefer?

I triple boot vista, ubuntu and OSX on my laptop, I have a card with BackTrack 3 on it as well. Desktop runs 7. Plus I have a few test machines around with Ubuntu server and XP. They all serve their own purpose, don't care too much for one over the other.

Start butten prob, and some other aeras, (aft comp dump)

As long as you have the CDs for the programs/games just reinstall with them, or redownload them if necessary. It's difficult to back up programs since they generally install things all over the place. You can copy the files, but they more than likely won't work unless you go through and find...

    Help someones controlling my pc!!!

I had a similar issue. It ended up being a problem with the DNS servers I was using, which I changed to fix it. Try typing in, say http://www.ebay.com and see if that takes you to ebay. My problem was whenever I typed in say ebay or ebay.com it would take me to an msn search result page that...

    Post Your Lowest idle Temps

Just thought now might be a good time to point this out, alt+PrintScreen just print screens the active window rather than the entire screen. Just figured I'd try and help save some loading times on those with slow internet. :)

help on my desktop (newly reformatted)

Sounds like you need to install drivers for all of your devices. Go to my computer, right click on whitespace and click properties. To the left click device manager (Unless you're on xp, then click the hardware tab, then device manager). If there's anything in the device manager that is a...

Help to build a budget pc

First off, never, for any reason, type in all caps. It will give you a better chance of getting helped. I'm assuming that's around $700 USD. I'm assuming you're looking for a desktop, but are you looking for just the machine or with a monitor, keyboard, speakers etc etc included?

Removing all pre installed programs/bloatware and new computer setup

Most computers don't come with CDs/DVDs anymore unless you request it (which usually costs money). Instead they just throw everything onto a restore partition. For some reason I remember running the restore on a lenovo machine and it asking what bloatware I wanted... but I think that's just my...

Start butten prob, and some other aeras, (aft comp dump)

To run a chkdsk, go to start->accessories->then right click on command "Command Prompt" and say "Run as Administrator". It will ask you if you're sure you want to do this, continue and a command prompt should open. Type in "chkdsk /f" without the quotes and press enter. It will tell you the...

The heatsink it comes with is pretty nice. Unless you plan on doing some very intense overclocking, you really don't need an aftermarket cooler.

I want to connect free wifi to linksys to distribute

There are some really strange wifi/ethernet adapters out there, but nothing i know of that will connect a usb wifi adapter to an ethernet port. I seriously, seriously doubt those exist. Some routers do have usb ports for printers and NAS but even then I'm not sure if those would work with a...

I want to connect free wifi to linksys to distribute

Yes, you could. Connect with the high powered usb adapter. Then in network connections set the wireless to share the internet connection. Then in wired setup a static ip. Plug the router's wan into the wired connection and set it up a static ip and you should be good to go.
