that's because HE was dumb and bought an early p4, a socket 423 one. there are adapters for socket 478, you might be able to get a bit more with one.

get the lcd, the first machine is not MUCH worse than the second. the difference would hardly be nocibile, if at all.

i doubt it. you just can't get parts that cheap and make a profit. i'm gonna try though. it's only a $11 loss if it doesn't work lus shippin. edit again no wonder... $650 minimum purchase.

i don''t have an absolute final really, i just will have to wait longer to get the money, so it won't be a new year rig. i guess the max would prolly be $550 plus shipping. it's gonna be used for heavy multitasking and mid range gaming. edit i like that case :D looks like it has enough 5.25...
