readyboost gives a slight performance boost but not much and it is by no means added ram. They added it because vista is so slow on many machines. It's just a system cache and can only utilize up to 4gb.

On that computer why not trying linux. Maybe something like xubuntu. The most you'll get out of it is an internet word processing machine anyway.

Especially running vista ultimate I'd upgrade your processor to dual core so you're probably going to need a new mobo too. Ram could be upgraded to ddr2 as well as graphics. I think that you would be better off with a new build and keep this computer as an extra machine.

windows defender is nice but it's not an antivirus and not the best antispyware software. It's good to use as a second antispyware and has some nice features. I love bitdefender and like the Avast antivirus. I've personally used both, only switched from bitdefender because I got Kaspersky...

At this point I wouldn't do it. Blu ray burners are very expensive and unless you're going to start pirating blu ray movies and selling them in bel air where people actually have players it's not worth it. Wait until the prices decrease drastically. Remember when we didn't have dvd burners...

Are you referring to apple using the 800mhz because on the site it says 667mhz ram on the mbp and I did confirm that it's 2X1GB so I'd have to get all new ram.

How much better is it because that's a huge price difference of about $500. It's got a little bit better processor and better graphics but what other features would I be missing out on if I buy the 2.4ghz model?
