CFx with two different card series?

Unless they changed things, the first two digits of the card number needs to be the same. i.e. 58xx and 58xx, or 48xx with 48xx. Can't do 58xx and 48xx afaik.

    Any news on the 5870X2???

Anand, among others, reference the card near hitting the 300W atx spec limit in its retail underclocked state, and selling fully clocked would be non-compliant. Of course, in time, that value can go up in the advent of new pci-e connectors specced for higher wattage, as it already has a couple...

    Any news on the 5870X2???

Are you referring to the 5970, which has been out (albeit low quantities) for quite a while? It also is clocked more like a "5850x2" due to the ATX spec power limit, but they do offer a voltage tweak/overclock tool iirc to bump up to "5870x2" speeds, but this falls about 100w over the ATX spec...

    Post your case mods here!

Thanks guys. The white one is still in progress (as its sitting in primer and test hardware and waiting on some plexi work). It's scheduled to be done by March for Digital Overload (LAN). And the Rocketfish one, that was at the beginning of the mod, which got finished, but I never took more...

    Post your case mods here!

First Quick Paint: Mouse for fiance: Etch: First Mod (Scratch Build): Laptop -> SFF Conversion: I don't have finished pictures of this one, will get to it eventually, as it has progressed quite a bit since that picture: Very quick window for my brother on his 300. He added the...

    I'm back, and here's a problem.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834107024 Looks almost exactly the same as you mentioned, just 2GB ram instead of 3GB.

Whats the difference between the HX and TX ranges from Corsiar PSU

Here is the Official Corsair Rep's response to this question over on [H]. I left the talk about the release date stuff in case that may be pertinent to your interests. Hope it helps a little. He didn't go into specifics, just generalities.

    The perfect desktop accessory

That one is a hot plate anyway. For some reason they didn't change all the descriptions in the ad, but it isn't the one that makes it cold. Those don't work very well anyway.

    Cable Sleeving

If you just want the best sleeving, the Murdermods is considered top quality. But if he just wants to cheaply sleeve his cables to get them a bit better looking then it is way out of his price range. I don't have any experience with the Thermaltake stuff. A while ago I got some really cheap...

Intel Pentium 4 Versus Celeron D 335 Processor

The P4 is quite a bit better than the celeron. 4x the cache, a higher fsb, and has hyperthreading. The P4 will perform better than the celeron.

    new video card

I wouldn't 'waste' the money on a 9800gt, as you're essentially looking at the same card you already have with a couple minor features/power saving elements. The GTS250 would be a bit of an improvement, but you're talking maybe 30% on games you already play well anyway. I'd save for a GTX260...

    broken screen help...

You might get lucky but usually, as mentioned, when someone sells a broken laptop the good parts tend to get stripped. Just grabbing the screen on ebay will probably be cheaper anyway, but if you find one then by all means go for it. Many ebay vendors will also give you a warranty for the new...

    broken screen help...

Just lookup the dv2000 screen on ebay. I picked one up for my brother's Compaq laptop for like $45 or something half a year ago. Just look up the disassembly instructions and follow that, and do it backwards once you get the new screen in. Was easy as pie. Probably much easier than trying to...

Half Life 2 Game Engine and Vista

I've had that issue since I went to Vista (but I love Vista and have had zero other issues) with every Source game. I've always just ignored it though.

    E5200 on MSI Board

I built a rig for my little brother with an e5200 on a p45-t2rs and overclocked to 3Ghz easy. Was only using a q6600 heatsink so I didn't go further. He was playing with things, as little brothers always do lol, and wanted to see how far it would go. Turns out it was stable at 4.1Ghz on...

    thinking about buying a psp

I've got both, and don't really play either. Occasionally a really good game will come out that will make me take it out, like Crisis Core or God of War in the case of PSP, or Professor Layton or Mario Kart for DS. Other than that I never really play either. Although I had been playing quite a...

    Bad times for EA?

With all the purchases of studios and software companies it doesn't surprise me. Granted, there wasn't a bit deal in 2008 like in 2007 with Bioware/Pandemic, but constantly gobbling up companies has to add to costs, and without big titles to even out each acquisition they will eventually post a...

    7600GT blown caps!!!

If he does just buy a new card don't just junk the old one. Caps can be found for what, $0.50 a piece. I'd take $2.50 to grab some caps and resolder some on, if it were me that is. It's not all that difficult of a process if you've got the tools. Interesting hour or so at the very least. But...

P5n-e SLI issues with power :(

Did you try what I mentioned? Remove the power cable from the power supply, wait a few seconds, then remove the atx cable (24 pin) from the motherboard. Put it back in, put the psu cable back in and try to boot up. That was repeatable on my board and worked every time. Try it and see if it will...

P5n-e SLI issues with power :(

I had this issue with my fiance's P5NSLI and the crappy case it was in. The really hot days it would crash and the next day nothing would power up, but the lights and such were on, on the mobo. Unplugged the atx connector and reconnecting fixed this issue for me. This was reproducible for me...
