No, a computer in your bedroom is definately not dangerous if you leave it on all the time. I have 4 in my room now (down from 6) and they run 24x7.

Get a graphics card (don't bother with onboard if you wanna play games) upgrade the ram, upgrade the mobo, and upgrade the PSU.

Well if you got any errors in your RAM it's toast, so my guess is you'll need to be getting new RAM. Before you do though test 1 stick in each slot by itself, you might just have a broken RAM slot (it's happened to me a few times).
