    New moniter

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=24-236-466 do this. the Asus mg279q is excellent and cheap. other monitors like it cost $800+ from what I've seen.

how long do you think my cpu will last?

haha this made me laugh because I said that in the op thanks for reiterating though

    increasing Max Turbo Boost Frequency

it should but a lot of the time they will cover the cpu anyways. truth is damaging your cpu by overclocking is very difficult to do with proper cooling. assuming you are using a good enough cooler of course.

    Turbo Boost and OC

turbo boost is a dynamic technology that uses heat and power usage as parameters to determine seperately what each core can clock up to. overclocking raises the maximum of what your processor can clock up to, within those set parameters.

Strange issue while running 3dMark on my new build

yup too bad, they kind of tricked you really. as the 390x is really just a rebrand yet costs more

NZXT Kraken G10 on 970 Strix?

in general they used components that have slightly higher tolerances for high heat.

Will better hardware always improve the look of a game? Is there a limit?

smoother, higher settings, higher resolution... the better your hardware is the more flexibility you will have to choose wether you prefer more fps or more quality.

AMD Radeon R7 370 now or HBM2 - the next year?

if I were about to spend money on it i'd get the better card and invest some money in and instead. buy low sell high.

AMD Radeon R7 370 now or HBM2 - the next year?

the hbm just leaves more headroom for more gpu power... the memory bandwidth won't bottleneck and also the power consumption of the memory will be reduced, freeing up more power for the gpu. that being said, you can get more gpu power now, if you're worried about newer faster memory, they're...

Why does the fps go below 60 in Battlefield4?

you likely won't hit 100% across all cores. that's not how games work really. task allocation is done in realtime as they come to the system, so its not like a scientific calculation where it already has the next operation queued up in line to stress the cpu accordingly. you could TURN or...

Trying to get Core2 Quad Q9550 past 3.6ghz

you may need to lower the memory multiplier , but if that isn't the issue you probably need either more vcore (if cooling allows it) or your motherboard simply can't handle the overclock.

Why does the fps go below 60 in Battlefield4?

try checking cpu usage. cpu usage tends to be less dependent on graphics settings, and battlefield uses lots of cpu.

Help me choose next monitor: 144hz 1080, 2k or 4k?

main reasons i dont game in 4k -doesn't match my desktop resolution, therefore kicks around my icons sometimes -scaling in some games is just terrible -high end games that DO scale well get such low fps that it isn't worth it however i do game in 4k for world of warcraft. it does scale pretty...

how long do you think my cpu will last?

nah tjmax is 100 or 110. and I am water cooled, if you didn't read my signature. the cpu tim still sucks compared to liquid pro though. (which I have on my 4770k in my htpc, it was a horrible overclocking chip though) like I said that was on a hot day, and prime 95 is notorious for that crap...

Help me choose next monitor: 144hz 1080, 2k or 4k?

4k gaming is here, but it still isn't recommended with a $300 video card.

    Should I Upgrade?

i'd upgrade it. power supply should be fine for any single gpu

Help me choose next monitor: 144hz 1080, 2k or 4k?

depends what games and what settings. but if you want ultra settings in newer games i'd just go with a 144hz 1080p panel. the xl2720z or something by benq would be good. if you had two 970's i'd say go with an acer xb270hu.
  18. fade2green514

    Should I Upgrade?

i'd go for a gtx 970 or if you dont mind something with a little more heat and power consumption the radeon 390 is around the same price, but has more vram.

    How do you switch CPU's?

the gtx 960 is closer in performance to the radeon 380, and the radeon 390 is closer in performance to the gtx 970. but, i agree most games will benefit more from a video card upgrade. the higher end video card the more difference you will see. past that, it depends on the game. some games...

how long do you think my cpu will last?

yea it aint worth it to run 4.7ghz at such a voltage jump, being that it wasnt fully stable. computers are dumb
