I created a backup file using Windows XP, and put the backup on my 1 TB external HDD. The problem is, the file is called Backup.bkf and Windows does not recognize that file extension. I'm sure other people have had problems similar to this, so how do I restore all of that data? It is 400 GB of...
When you reinstall Steam you have to copy the "Steamapps" folder to a different location on your HDD, that will keep all of your games and saved files etc. If you didn't do that, then you will have to reinstall every game again.

And yep, that is everything, you'll need a Philips screw driver, and that should pretty much cover it. You'll also need a mouse, keyboard, and monitor, but I think you already know that :P.
