Hi guys, Im new here and i wanted to ask you guys whats the best Gaming Computer i could get for $1000 (Or a little more)

I dont know much about hardware sooo, Im scared that i will choose incompatible/bad components.

Any help please? :)

Ive got this list with components for a computer... I dont know if its a good setup or something, Or if the components will be compatible with eachother.

Here it is:

-

The less important thing for me is the Sound Card, I have only 2 speakers and I dont care much about super quality audio :p

I feel a little insecure about the list... I dont trust myself since its the first time im gonna build a PC, I just chose what i thought was best for an affordable price.
I also dont know if i chose good things.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! :D

Thanks

Don't buy things from bestbuy, they have really bad prices. If you can order online, use www.Newegg.com.

As for the soundcard, do you have a good pair of 2.0 speakers? If you do then it's a good investment, if not, then put the money else where.

Also I would look into another power supply. Rocketfish isn't exactly the best brand. Look into Corsair or something.

Cooling wise, don't get those cheap all in one water cooling kits. They often perform worse than high end air coolers.

I wouldn't waste that i7 on an H50 bud. If you want to do watercooling, you have to downgrade some parts to stay in budget.

As said before, if you go to newegg, your price will go down while performance increases. There you can get a much better motherboard that has hi-def audio on it. Trash the sound card unless you're a music freak.

Really, once you get to NewEgg and edit your parts list, you'll have a much cleaner and cool build.

Post once you're finished.

Try newegg.com, they should be cheaper.
Motherboard - go for Asus/ Gigabyte. Intel mobo is not very good.
RAM - 2 x 2GB is what you need. P55 support dual channel.
PSU - I personally haven't heard of Rocketfish... I would go for well known brand like Consair/ Antec/ PC&C / OCZ/ Sliverstone/ Seasonic, etc.
Cooler - that one looks expensive...
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black should run faster.

phenomII X4 versus i7 for gaming

Why is everyone fixated on i7 cpu's for gaming. The amd PhenomII X4 far out performs the i7 when overclocking in gaming. The amd 955 and 965 black editions can be overclocked to nearly 6ghz with the right cooler and mb. The i7 overheats very easily, you would be lucky to get mid 4's without problems and forget about geting over 1.5 volts

First of all, i7 920 is socket 1366, so you need to get X58 motherboards instead of P55 if you want to use that processor.

i7 860 is faster at stock speed and consume less power. But i7 920 would better for Crossfire because it supports x16/x16

If you plan to get i7 920 then 6GB (3x2GB) would be the ideal ram because it supports tripple channel DDR3

HD5870 seems like would put him over his budget

Unless if he get i7 860 build and DDR3 1600 that I suggested

X58 motherboards for i7 920 are expensive. So, getting i7 920 build would be over his budget

Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz 4x256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366
$288.99
Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W
$289.99

You only save like $54 so you could get an HD5850 but i'll cost him a little extra
