Im looking for the best card for 250, iv been searching but I really cant call anything conclusive. Each series have different processors and the specs might as well go out the window at that point. Whats the best Card I can get for around 250 bux?

My only concern is will it fit in my 900? That and im sure heat wont be to big of an issue right? Im reading reviews and some people say you have to change profiles to increase fan speed to lower temp.

Should fit fine in the Antec 900.

4870 hands down or you can try and get 2x3870's also. i would get the crossfire to tell you the truth.

No.

3870s in crossfire will give about the same performance.

Rather get one 4870. The performance is great for all games (except our little bugger called crysis)

And you will have the option to Crossfire the 4870. A CF'ed 4870 gives MONSTER performance in CoD4 at the highest res and settings.

Hey man,

I'm running two 4870's in my antec900!

They run warm but you can adjust the fans--plus the cooling of the antec900 is quite efficient.

cheers/

The wait will be worth it.

Ive only played CoD4, GRID, and Crysis since I got mine, and all of those games ran so smooth and on high settings. I didnt notice Crysis had a Very high setting, so ill play through the game again on that and see how it runs. Im expectinng minimal lag.

Setting the fan speed up is easy. I have three profiles. Sleep, browsing, and one for gaming. :)

I heard the 8.8 drivers have fan speed selection. If not ill do that hack.

Heard that too, im still on 8.6 though, so I havent tried it or seen how well it manages the fan. Im sure its fine though with lots of people using it. lol

Id recommend a driver upgrade, not on any first hand experience but with newer cards, I hear they preform better with newer drivers.

Yeah, ill do it soon. I tried a few days ago but it didnt work for some reason. Said it couldnt find the driver while installing. Ill get it tonight.

I don't have the 4870, I have the 4850 and I have to agree with everyone here. Even the 4850 is a BEAST! I run CoD4 max settings at over 100fps. Only goes under 100fps in intense action (like the opening boat level) and even then it stays over 70fps. You made the right choice going with the 4800 series my friend!
