Too bad everyone who'se brought that up so far hasnt the foggiest that those arent gaming cards but workstation cards, readup: http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=3451uh...yea..they make 640MB cards...on newegg....
and my statement was to the original post about needing 512MB gfx not to yoursBobo said:I was wondering.......
Just get 256MB gfx

Id like to see you try and get HEIDI drivers to emulate DirectX or OpenGL .... especially since its not supported in hardware.....I know that perfectly well, but they *could* be used for gaming

Yes indeed, those are CPU rendered games ... so the video card isnt an issue ... and as such you wouldnt be "using the the card for gaming" ... youd be "using the CPU for gaming"There are games, however few, that don't need directX (i think)
Praetor said:Yes indeed, those are CPU rendered games ... so the video card isnt an issue ... and as such you wouldnt be "using the the card for gaming" ... youd be "using the CPU for gaming"
Well yeah, so technically you could use that video card for gaming
and as such you wouldnt be "using the the card for gaming" ...
For some reason i think i was pretty explicityoud be "using the CPU for gaming"
1. Cant you just admit you're wrong and didnt know the first thing about workstation cards? The monitor would still be attached to the gfx, so the signals would still be going through it, whether or not they do anything while they go through it a different matter
OK, I'm wrongPraetor said:1. Cant you just admit you're wrong and didnt know the first thing about workstation cards?
Kinda hard to game without a monitor.....Praetor said:2. Who said anything about a monitor? Note that modern games, requiring shaders and such REQUIRE a video card .... older games that dont have such hardware requirement do NOT require a video card .... and without the videocard ... no monitor
Ya, and you need to see to play games.Praetor said:3. Even if i stoop that level of stupidity, no the video card would NOT be required for gaming (for these CPU rendered games) -- it would be required for DISPLAYING VIDEO
Nothing. I still don't understand most of this, because you can run games w/out a monitor, but you can't play them. And, for a monitor, you need to have gfx, whether or not it uses it. I'm not really trying to argue with you, I know that the chances are nil that I am right, I am just saying how I understand this.Praetor said:What have we learned since post #7?
Ya, that's rightPraetor said:You havnt the foggiest.
Don't feel bad about pickin on a little kid, I argue with everybody, quite literally tooPraetor said:I dont mean to be mean man (and i really dont, you just make it so d*** hard not to) but man c'mon....
Irrelevent. Notice the words used with my original post (#7). You seem to have not read my point that these arent gaming cards -- whether you can game with them or not is inconsequential. Furthermore, post #11 you state that there are some games that dont required Directx .... so what? Please dont suggest to me that if the game doesnt require directx than than workstation cards are suitable. Further along in post #13 you suggest that, (in reference to post #12), for CPU rendered games youd be using a workstation card for gaming .... lets have a technical analysis of that:Kinda hard to game without a monitor.....
No you dont. And there are TONS of counterexamples ... like say UT2004 .... and please *do* think (long and hard if neccessary) before you challenge me on that....its not often I make wild statements without a pocket howitzer to back it upYa, and you need to see to play games.
Uhhh ..... read post #7 again. If you're gonna be stupid enough to give me that "you need to see to play and therefore the card is required" than welcome to the new world: the video card isnt required .... ever heard of terminals?Nothing. I still don't understand most of this, because you can run games w/out a monitor, but you can't play them. And, for a monitor, you need to have gfx, whether or not it uses it. I'm not really trying to argue with you, I know that the chances are nil that I am right, I am just saying how I understand this.
And here you are contradicting yourself because in post #13 you saidNothing. I still don't understand most of this, because you can run games w/out a monitor, but you can't play them
And nowhere does it say PLAY.Well yeah, so technically you could use that video card for gaming
