2900Pro vs 8800GTS

2900 pro easily, you cant just say 8800. 2900 pro is a underclocked 2900xt, you can just oc it to xt speeds easily...

and the 2900 xt even beats the 8800 gtx in some benchies

id say if youre looking for dx10 games id go with the 2900 pro easily

the only reason it loses out whern AA is on, is because it uses a shader based AA, which can be applied to HDR, thats awsome beyond belief.

the 8800's can force AA onto hdr scenes, but its baaad. lots of glitches with bioshock etc with the forced AA

The 2900xt performs similar to the 8800GTS 640mb in many games (despite the fact that it benchmarks higher...but benchmarks aren't the whole story). I would get the 8800 just because it uses less power, runs cooler, and can OC (which will definetly make it better than the 2900pro).

LOL

I wish I could afford the 8800 right now, I dont like ATi I had nothing but headaches from the cards. That was a few years ago but once burned twice shy I guess you could say!!

I think I'm going to go with the 8800GTS, or maybe the 8800GT when it comes out, I don't know, I just hope the prices will come down!

Yea I see $350 US or more and I am like "MAN I WANT THAT" then reality sits in and I just cannot bring my hand up to the mouse and click buy because of that price tag!!

Nope you would need 2 in crossfire to beat a single GTX, and it probably would be in many games (says tiger TV). Although i dont know how good their drivers are now

You guys really need to do some research and not just guess. The 2900PRO only does better in 3DMark, check out some real game benchmarks.

dude its because AA is on, and thr 2900 uses a shader based AA, which is why it takes a huge hit. The shader baed AA will be used in newgen games.

look at the medal of honour airborne becnhmarks for both on the unreal 3 engine and the 2900xt is smookkinn

hmmm ....
and bioshock

REMEMBER BOTH GAMES ARE RENDERED ON THE UNREAL 3 ENGINE!!

I showed you at least 5 different game benchmarks. All of those use the UT3 engine, so they are obviously going to have the same kinds of results. The unreal engine has always favored ATI cards anyways, so it's no surprise the 2900XT does better, but remember, this is about the 2900PRO!!

Erm... Ok. After looking through all the results, opinions, reviews and benchmarks, I think I'll go with an 8800GTS 640MB, sometime in Feb next year, hopefully the prices will come down!
