60-61 degrees idle, 70-72 under load... do I need to change the fan speed?

only i was looking to what software you could us to control fan speed.

Yes it runs very hot and I have the exact same problem as those other people. I downloaded nVidia nTune to use it to control the speed, but I don't know if I have to or not, and so I came here with the question.

Do you think I have to change it/ speed it up?

if ntune will allow you then pump it up to full speed, but on some cards ntune doesnt allow you to change fan speed (like mine)

vid cards do get quite hot, those temps of your aint realy that much to worry about however i wouldnt like to see my card get that hot (thats just me lol)

your idle temp is my load.

Damn... so if you were me you'd put it up. Sounds like a reasonable answer :P.

What software do I use...I don't think nTune works....?

I hate ntunes... I have a 8600 256mb geforce... idle about 60 full load about 70... it has been ok for over a year... don't worry bout it

if needed buy aftermarket cooling or the card. my card was idle 38 and load 51. now i changed the heatsink and fan and im getin 27idle and 35load

look for aftermarket cooling for the card or throw a nice 80cfm fan on it to move the hot air off the gpu faster.

you need to dl and install coretemp and try to get a hold of everest which gives you a temp for almsot everything in the computer.

If I let my 4870 do its thing it idles at 63 and can get up to 80 under load. Manually changing the fan speed to stay at atleast 40 or 50 makes a HUGE difference though.
