600W Atx PSU problem? HELP!

Hey guys, great community you got here :]

On to my problem. I just got all the new parts I ordered to start building my second PC. Unfortunatly, when I turn it on, my PSU gives me two red lights in the back, and a constant beeping noise (about 3 beeps per second). The box claims that this means the PSU is in StandBy, or its Down. Heres the link to the PSU. http://www.atxpowersupplies.com/powmax-redundant-atx-power-supply-PSLPT1-300.htm

Anyone have a clue what this could mean? I'd love to get this one working, but if I cant I'll just run out and buy a 500W.

The specs for my PC (if needed) are:

CPU: $143.00 - Intel Pentium D 935 Presler 3.2GHz

For $41 or £20 you can't expect much...

The problem is with it not putting out probably no-where near enough power on the 12v rail! It's only putting out 10amps, which I don't think is enough at all!

I have an Antec and they're really good, I'd consider getting one of them!
Do you have another PSU that you could test, I bet a better one would work!

I just purchased a "Zerodba AeroCool 620W". "EPS 12V and ATX 12V 2.02 compliant with powerful Dual +12V Rails".

It still doesnt work. I press my power button on my PC and I get nothing. I am, though, getting a green light from my power switch on my PSU, and the green LED light on my MOBO is turned on.. its just that nothing happens when I attempt to turn my PC on.

Well, Your new PSU should be putting out enough power to the motherboard.
Have you got the wires connected properly from the front of your case to the motherboard, you may not have the power button wire in properly.

Also, do you have the 20 and the 4 pin connectors from the PSU plugged in?

The 20 goes into the one by the RAM slots and the 4 pin goes in the one just to the left and above the CPU socket.

Yeah, I figured this PSU should have enough power this time.

The case plugs I'm going to recheck, as well as every other wire/piece of hardware I put into my computer (I'm doing everything over).

As for the 4 pin/20 pin connectors, something did come across as suspicious while pluging in the 20. There is no 20 pin connector from my motherboard, theres only a 16. In my old PC that I built one year ago, theres also a 16 pin connector, but its still plugged into the 20 slot. The only difference is that the top four connectors in the motherboard are left untouched. The old PC works fine too, so I assumed that this would be alright for my new PC.

I'll update you once I'm done re-attaching everything into my PC, but how about that 16 pin? Is that normal?

Ok sure, Make sure they're all in the right ones and are in Ok.

You're MOBO does have 24 pins and then another 4 at the top.

Your PSU's main cable should have (seen here: http://img.neoseeker.com/v_image.php?articleid=1888&image=4 ) should be plugged into the main one on the MOBO all 24 pins of the PSU's main cable should be in the slot on the MOBO and then the other 4 pin connector should be in the top of the MOBO. This is probably your problem, 16 pins

Ok, so nothing happened.. again :(

Woops, its not a 16 pin. Each of my PSU's have 20 pins, but my mobo has a 24 pin slot. I'm assuming that this is my problem? Each PSU's 20 pin cables' are lacking 4 more pins.. why? And why did this work in my other PC? I left the top 4 without pins and it works fine. This sucks :/

Ah, I'm getting warmer. I figured out that there is an extra 4 pin connector thats nearly attactched to the 20 pin. So I put thoes together, and they fit into the 24 pin slot on my mother board. Unfortunatly, this still did nothing. I would have thought that this would fix my entire problem. Apparently not :(

There is a wire coming from my case that is concerning me though.. it says on it "1394". It looks exactly the same as my USB connector coming from my case, which looks like this: http://images.devshed.com/dh/stories/Aspire XCruiser/USB1394_connectors.jpg

Its probably just another USB thing or something.. but I'de like to make sure I have the case set up properly.

I'm 99% sure that the power button is plugged in ok, because my first PSU started making the beeping error noise the second I pressed the Power button on my case. I would assume thats because the power button is working ok.

1394 is just front firewire. In addition to the 24pin connector, there's another 4pin connector towards the corner of the board. Make sure this is plugged in as well.

I don't know how else to be certain, but I can't think of how anything I did is wrong (besides that 24 pin deal that I fixed). What are my options? What are possible causes? 1) motherboard

Well, As we don't really know what the problem is there are a lot of things to consider.

How recently did you buy everything, is it still in warranty? An extreme is to send it all back and get them to send you new stuff, that'll help find out if anything was damaged or broken.

You have the right RAM because it take DDR2 800 and you have that and the highest RAM voltage the board can take is 2.1 and the RAM you have runs at that, so it should be Ok.

Take a look at the motherboard, can you see any damage, bent components, brown stuff on capacitors, stuff like that?

I see no visible damage done to the motherboard, and everything is still in warranty. I'll take some pictures later of everything I have setup, I bet my power cables are plugged in incorrectly.

Yeah, It'd be good to put some pictures up, If we can't figure out what is wrong it may be a good idea to send it back and get it all replaced?

They may be, We'll have to see :p

Ok, here are the images I took (let me know if there are any others that you'd like to see.

4 pin connector

Everything

RAM

Chassis cables

20+4 pin connectors

Thoes are the only things I would see as a potential problem, please let me know if theres anything else I can do to finding a solution.

Are you sure all the case connectors are in the right places and are in properly.

Also, I don't think it'll be the problem, but your RAM isn't running in Dual Channel, You'd have to put them both in the same colour slot, eg. Both in the Yellow or Black.

I really don't know what the problem is, your MOBO may be faulty?

I'm pretty sure that the case connectors are correct. Like I said, the power button made the 1st PSU made noises once I pressed the power button.

I fixed the RAM, still nothing.

No other possibility besides the MOBO being shit?

Is there a manual that came with the MOBO that shows you where they all go, just double check with that to see if you have them in the right places.

I don't know, It may be the MOBO, can you send it back, try another one?
