6800GS or X800GTO?

This isn't very good. I just found out that the newest Connect3D GTO doesn't allow you to unlock the 4 pipes, because of a Bios revision I think. Does anybody know if this is true? If it is I guess I would have to look for an older model to unlock, but where?

Where did you hear this? I think if you just flashed it with the original old BIOS then it would be unlockable, but don't quote me on that.

lol you quoted me. Newegg reviews are hard to trust, more than not some dumbass posts untrue specs of the item, ten 20 people corect him, then someone starts it all over again. One guy posted that this was a "great dual core processor" when in fact it was a single core, and it confused many buyers wh bough it solely for the fact that he said it was "dual core." If you can find it somewhere besides neweg.com i'd believe it, but sometimes idiots their just can't figure out how todo it and say it's "impossible".

Another question: Will my PSU run with the GTO? I have the ATX-AS520W from Aspire, and you can look at my sig to see what else I would need to power.

I think it will be fine, as long as it has good amps on your 3 main rails (3.3v, 5v, 12v). If you're only like 12A on the 12v rail you might have issues powering it all, but I don't think the Aspire's are that low.

Yah that's fine, those are all strong rails.

Ok, good. My friend just got the X800GTO from Diamond and it looks like he needs a new PSU, because his 400 watt doesn't run it well, so he is going to get the same as I have. What about you 4W4K3? When did you order your X800GTO?

lol haven't ordered yet. I have to wait till' after X-Mas to buy anything, and even then I will probably not have enough to order it all at once. But I'm definetly getting it...just might be a week or 2 late.

Hopefully those people on Newegg aren't correct in saying the GTO isn't flashable to unlock 16 pipes, because if that is the case, then I will probably just go with the eVGA 6800GS.

The new ones are not unlockable. Connect3D are laser cutting the extra 4 pipes so they are damaged and not unlockable. http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/127 Bastards.

IS the 6800GS $150? I cant really spend more than that.

6800XT is $150, I might go for that. Really my main goal was jsut to get a reasonably good performanced card, the unlocking was 2nd to that. If i can still get a card that will play new games with decent FPS...I'm happpy :D

I think I will still get the X800GTO. But now my main decision is which manufacturer to buy from. I also want VIVO, and PowerColor and Connect3D have it in their GTOs. Which one do you think I should get?

The X800GTO2 is still unlockable, and it will be forever, they have no plans to start cutting the pipes on those ones. So maybe I'll try and raise some extra cash and get that one.

Yeah, I looked into the GTO2, but quickly stopped after I looked at the price tag (almost 100 more!).

LOL, you said that unlocking wasn't too important. OK, my mind just made a change on this subject. I think I will either get the 6800GS or the GTO2, it's just that I am sick of spending money, GRRR, I get mad at myself. So which one should I get, considering the $$$ difference.
