6800GS or X800GTO?

Well I realized that when the GTO isn't overclocked, there is hardly any rave about it...and it's not really a "steal/bargain" for the price you pay. Overall it's really only a good card if you can unlock it. For I thnk another $30 you can get another card that has great features and still overclocks well...

You can get it here for only $240 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102634 and I was planning on spending $200 on a regular GTO, so thats only $40 more lol.

It all comes down to cash again. If I only have ~$200, I'll get a 6800GS. If i have ~$250, I'll ge the GTO2. Looking at my current budget, It'll be the 6800GS. However I jsut got another free computer to part out so maybe it will get me some extra cash, very unexpected.

The difference in price with the XFX 6800GS and the Sapphire GTO2 is $21 (6800GS being less) with shipping accounted for. What is the better deal, considering that I would unlock the GTO2?

So is there a model number to tell if you got the older connectGTO or the newer?

The model # is the same, the difference is the revision. They altered the card so that it's impossible to unlock the extra 4 pipelines.

I worded my question wrong. Where can I find out if I have the revision version? Anyway to tell?

Apokateron, pipes are the means for transferring data, but I am sure someone can give a better explanation.

I don't know. Maybe it says the revision on the card, like a motherboard does.

That's debatable, fans from ATi and nVidia will steer you their own way. I will do my job and say the 6800GS, because unlocking isn't a 100% guarantee on any card.

i agree with that.

if you want to play safe, get the S, but if you want to take the risk i would go for the GTO. but like its said, unlocking isnt guaranteed ;)

Rather than make a new thread, I decided to ask here.

I recently purchased the X800 Gto, and a new portable DVD player. the GTO came with s-video cables, and the dvd came with output cables for video and audio. Can I connect the DVD to my computer through the GTO to watch or possibly record?
