$800 Build ! MAJOR HELP PLEASE !

My gf gave me $600 for my birthday and her young bro got me Bioshock 2 "D(which i cant play...yet) and im saving up $200 more. i built a pc before but i haven't done it in so long so i dont know whats the best on the market for parts. I did my search for video Cards. Im going with an Intel and nVidia setup. no more AMD and ATI this time.

Because you have built one before I'm going to assume you already have a case.

You can get a much better video card within your budget than the 250.

Kept same motherboard + CPU as daisy, but changed rest

i5-750 + Asus P7P55D - $299.98

4GB (2x2GB) G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz - $109.99

EVGA GTX260 $209.99

Silverstone 600W - $89.99

Lite On SATA DVD drive $19.99

Total ~$740

Leaveing enough for an OS if you need one in that budget.

If you don't need to get an operating system, you can pocket that extra $60, get a new case, get an aftermarket HSF for your CPU, good ones are:

Prolimatech Megahalems - $65

Noctua NH-U9B $54.99

Thermalright TRUE - $59.99

or, if you are willing to go ATi, get a better video card:

Yeah a Dual Core w/ HT if you are on a budget. If you can squeeze a bit more...I would take a i5 over a Q...and as for a video card...9800GTX or at least a 260 if you can. Depending on your future upgrades...I would also make sure you have a decent PSU w/ SLI and a MB w/ SLI in case you wanna running dual video card.
 
If you are in CA newegg is about useless since you have to pay tax. Microcenter has lower prices on just about everything if the Tustin store is near you. $150 for gts 250 is a lot for that old tech. Look at Frys also for good deals.

BTW, that is a VERY good price on the MOBO and CPU combo. I know there are a lot of Frys in SoCal but you will need to act fast or they will run out.

and gabe and bodaggit, read OP, he doesn't need a HDD, and he wants a quad core. Besides, HT and quad core are completely different, with HT being inferior to having 2 extra physical cores

Looks good, although I'm not fond of the PSU company.
You can buy an Antec Psu that's more reliable for only a little bit more.
Also, to save a bit on memory, you can go for these if you want.

Thermaltake actually make pretty good PSU's, but I would swap the ram for the G.Skill set Aznlotus mentioned. You'd probably wan't to swap the IDE HDD, like you said everything is SATA at the moment, it would be a bottleneck to your otherwise very good gaming machine. Here are three of the best 500gb SATA HDDs out at the moment - take your pick. I would personally pick the Samsung, but if you want to save 5 bucks then the Seagate is also a very good choice.

Comparing the one you chose and i chose, my timings were 8-8-8-24 where as yours was 9-9-9-24. I thought if the #s are lower it means its faster. im still a noob to pcs :D

Glad to help, I'm pretty new to the scene as well. ;)
Yes, you are 100% right, however in BIOS you can always
change timings and reduce the cas latency (Assuming the ability).
With that, Ripjaws series tend to easily oc and are more flexible
with timing/latency changes.

Here's some benchmarks and brief background info.

the GTX260 is more powerful than a GTS250 is, it will beat the 250 in any situation, be it benchmarking or gaming

Out of them I'd recomend the F3, cheapest decent hard drive with NCQ, which speeds up the hard drive a hell of alot and increases the lifetime of them.

The difference you will see, well you won't. The timings are so damn close you won't notice performance difference in real world scenarios, in benching you may, but they will be such tiny amounts. Besides, you can always change the timings through the bios
