I know it's some form of a computer test, but what im not sure of is where do you take it? is it an online thing or do you go somewhere? how much does it cost? ect.

The test it self is divided into to different test a hardware and a software. Just from reading your post I think you would master the hardware test. If you are considering tacking the test I would focus on improving your software (Windows OS 9X-XP).
how much does it cost? ect.

do you go somewhere
you have to go to a test center

whoever said it's easy has obviosuly never taken it, or they are jsut a regular computer genius knowing what color the wires are that go towards the center on an AT power supply to provide the proper voltage when plugged in. or maybe they were born knowing what 3 files are necessary on a windows 98 boot disk for proper loading of the command prompt. OR perhaps they were born knowing the dimensions in centimeters of the 3 categories of PCMCIA cards, and the names of all 3?

I don't think there is. I mean I would imagine anyone can get certified if they can provide the cash and be able to sit for a few hours without disturbing others.

Thanks for all the links guys, i havent checked them all out, so how do you take this test? And how much does it cost?

EDIT: I found the answer on one of the links, thanks!

I did take it. I got a 900 or close to it on both test and finished both tests in 15 minutes each. They give you an hour for each test and I was out of there in 30 minutes. The test is adaptive. So they don't ask you really hard questions if you get the easy ones right. The more you get wrong the harder it gets.
I'm actually supprised at the fact that less than 33% pass.

Employers who don't know anything about computers will look at it and think it means you know about them. Same with all certifications.

super nova you took the old test now it is 75 questions in both the hardware and software test not the 30 you had for both test.
I think alot less than 33% of people on this forum would pass it.
I would say around 10%

Geoff I think you can do it. Just sudy up sice your going to have to put money in it

Now, when signing up it asks you to chose a company, like microsoft, ibm, cisco, ect, im going to ask my computer teacher about it tomorrow, but do you know what one to choose? And how much does it cost?

EDIT: Is this what i would need to get? http://www.getcertify4less.com/aplus-vue.asp

It looks like it. I would first talk to your teacher because some schools can get the test voucher at a discounted price from Pearson VUE. I got mine for half off for both test :-).

I'll do that, but im also wondering if i should just take the Hardware test or both Hardware and Operating Systems. And im considering working at the Geek Squad, so should i take both?

They prefer the A+ Cert for there employees and having it would make you stand out from any one else trying to get the job but they don't require you to have it.

Simple test. Took me 10 minutes combined for both tests when I took it 5 years ago.

I think it was $50 for each one, I forget
