A good cooler.

should it fit my case?

is there a smaller one?
like flatter?

But offers good cooling

The better question is, will that fit your motherboard. The xp-120 is HUGE, but it doesn't have that much clearance, so your motherboard needs alot of empty space around the cpu socket in order for that cooler to fit.

So is there a smaller flatter cpu cooler?

that zalman looks like it sticks out alot.

thanks

Stop worrying if it will fit or not, your towers huge! :D

what if i add a top exhaust?
On top of my case?

How is an exhaust on the top of your case going to cool the Northbridge? Did you check out my post at the top of this page? It will give you a feel for how big the 9500 is in relation to the motherboard...

I have to ask... why the heck do you need 2.9GHz to play HL2? i can play HL2 maxed out at 1440X900 with 50 FPS. At 2.0GHz. A64. Single core. and a 6800XT. WTF? and get the 9500 or 9700 if you really need one.

Ok North bridge .... is the location by the RAM correct? Looks like it, cause you have 2 fans cooling by that.

So...A RAM cooler wouldnt help much.

But heat rises up, so the heat thats hovering...Would go up and out.

Would it not?

thanks

Do not want to play HL2, just want to 'have' my cpu in that range.

Are you talking about the required or suggested specs for HL2? if you are, then they are talking about standard P4s when they talk about CPU speeds, and have nothing to do with your CPU. You dont need to "have" it in that range at all.

Yes, heat rises, but having a fan at the top of your case isn't going to cool the Northbridge, it will cool the general system temperature.

The northbridge is this thing here:

The setup he has is effective, though personally I would take one of those fans from the NB to an extra exhaust.

Get a Zalman 9500 or 9700, my bro.'s PC was crashing back to desktop in BF2 due to CPU getting too hot. Installed a 9500, and WOW, hasn't done it since then. Beats the crap out of the Intel Stock Banger, why does the stock fan stop for 5 sec. when you stick your finger in it? Dumb question but thought I would ask.

Personally, I'd say the Tuniq Tower is better than the Zalmans at the moment provided that it is mounted correctly. With another 120mm on it, it's efficiency increases. You can mount a 120 on one of the sides of it to cool the northbridge i heard, but i haven't tried it.

So...
9700 or tuniq?

I am going to be going off of your opinions, cause I trust CF lol.
But theres enough people here to correct miss info.

So...
I want a good cooler that fits mid sized cases. And cools my c2d when I OC it.

Thanks

And ill prolly buy the northbridge cooler to. Will it fit on my DS3? Cause i see a little pin thing...
