Adding memory to my PC, Can you help???

can i place my new memory in any of the sockets or does it have to be in a specific one??

if you have the same memory keep them in the same bank.
if bank 0 has 256m and you have 512 meg to add on put it in the other bank. bank 1. same size mem goes into same bank. don't mix. (256m and 512m). rebooting rebooting and watching the screen and keeping close to the pause button will show if the mem was detected properly.

This new stick of memory ive just purchased runs at 400mhz but in PC wizard it says supported frequencies 166mhz, 200mhz therefore i was wondering if i can still install my new memoery in my PC or not??

yes it should just downclock your memory to 166mhz or 200mhz automaticly

hi, so memory is now installed and computer seems to be recognising it. Iv done a check on PC wizard and there it is, recognised, good stuff but does it matter that iv put it into A2 and left A1 empty????

Since its two difference size memory sticks its not gong to run in dual channel, so as long as there recognised and stable it doesnt really matter what slots there in. Myself I would but the bigger stick in slot 1 and the smaller in either of the other two but like I said if its stable it doesnt really matter.
