Ok a few things, don't spend $250 on a crossfire mobo when you are buying an nvidia gpu, you can't get sli core 2 boards yet so don't spend the money. So intel has a $130 core 2 mobo, get that put that $100 to your video card, get a 7900gt and save up $40 and get a 2x1gb kit of ram, like this one $160 after mir. or if you don't like mir this one All that for only $20 more.

You don't need to spend $250 on a mobo, that ridiculous, and why do you want the top of the line mobo when you are sticking minimal ram for a core 2 with a mediocre gpu. Trust me if you don't like the intel mobo then find another cheaper mobo that supports core 2.
Here is an asus mobo for you, its an extra $30 though. Still 965 chipset but its still fine. The main thing for the 975 chipset is taht is supports crossfire, which you can't do with a nvidia card.

The E6600 is minimal? I would go with the ASUS P5B Board, especially if you want to overclock, and I know you want to. What everyone is forgettting is that you can overclock through the BIOS on Intel boards. I would also try to shoot for this PSU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103933 I would also try for this GPU, with the extra cash from changing the motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130033

Ya better psu. And where did I say the e6600 is minimal?? I was saying with that cpu 1gb of ram would be minimal and would be better off with 2gb.

he meant that the 512mb x2 is minimal. the e6600 is far from minimal.

wow you can look for the highest number way to go. You do realize how dumb what you are saying is sounding. You don't get a great cpu and back it up with a crappy system, you won't see your cpu truly perform. For a core 2 especially a 6600 you are gonna want 2gb of ram and its only $40 dollars more rather then another $110 down the line. And a mediocre graphics card compared to a high end one. You need to build a balanced system. It would be like putting a 7950 gx2 with a p4 2.0 ghz. Your system is gonna be bottlenecking like crazy. And that review said good things about the board I suggested the asus p5b. Wow looking at some of the benchmarks more closely, it actually beat your mobo in a few.

Your system will be excellent.
That it will be, but if you are waiting for dx10 to come out before you play games its gonna be a while and your system definately won't be new, so buy a7900gt and enjoy some games now. Who knows when vista will finally be released.

Also, DX10 games are going to be compatible with DX9 cards.

Get a 7900gt now, wait for DX10 to come out, then wait another while for the new cards to lower a bit in price, then get the new cards.
