AGP or PCI

What are the pros and cons of each. Also i would like suggestions for a video card in the 50 to 100 dollar range. It needs to have either 2 dvi outputs or 1 dvi and 1 vga output thank you.
 
AGP is much newer, and generally cheaper (for some reason). There really are no pros for PCI. The pros for AGP are that its faster, it can handle much newer cards, cards are cheaper, and it has a higher transfer speed.

Not a bad card, but certainlly not top of the line for gamming. Nvidia never made a 7800 AGP yet, right? So 6800s are probably the best AGP right now?

Ku-sama, not totally correct, espcially that last one. It should be MY machine :P Besides, unless I forgot, there are some AGP Pro 2x verions or something. And AGP 1x is most certinally better than PCI. PCI has been out since 1994! It only runs at 33MHz! There's also a few small connections(I forgot their name but for modems and such) and you also forgot PCIe 1x, 2x, and 4x!
 
i was talking about PCI 1x, the little PCI slots :P which is after AGP 1x, and i did forget about 2x and 4x :P

also 6800 Ultra would be the best AGP, but id suggest getting a 6200

i doubt they'll ever make a 7800 AGP

apg 2x and 4x are the same size slots and everything though, pci-e 1x is a different slot.

You also left out CNR and AMR.;)

AGP 2x, 4x, 8x, and 8x pro are all AGP. same with the PCI and PCI-E.
 
You also left out CNR and AMR.;)
CNR and AMR are not video ports. They are usually used for modem's and sound cards.

There's also a few small connections(I forgot their name but for modems and such) and you also forgot PCIe 1x, 2x, and 4x!
VL, which was a weird sort of slot.

EISA and MCA (not MCI, MCI was a phone company), also you missed 16-bit ISA (EISA != 16-bit ISA)

For gaming cards, AGP cards are, without loss to generality, better. PCI cards however provide significantly increased value in combo cards as you have more flexibility when upgrading.

Not always and not if you consider serious machines where PCI has [up to] twice the bandwdith of AGP.


You did mean PCI and not PCI express, right? PCI < AGP < PCIe 16x

Syntax errror, expecting semicolon.

AGP 2x, 4x, 8x, and 8x pro are all AGP. same with the PCI and PCI-E.

i didnt mean that PCI and PCI-E are the same, but it kinda sounded like that. The basic 3 buses that are still widely used are PCI, AGP, and PCI Express (PCI-e)
