AMD 7000 series

Oh pickles and gravy! I am anxious to get my computer upgrade going! I'm just patiently waiting for the bulldozer news, but now this unofficial article had to pops its head up!

I have a GTX 260 (192 core) that needs to be updated! I guess the GPU can wait :(

Is this info reliable, if yes looks like the HD7870 is crushing the HD6970, with a TDP of 120W. It seems pretty unbelievable.
But if its true then it is a good thing I decided to wait rather than getting a 6950/GTX 570/

Sorry, PCIe 3.0. Isn't that what the 7000s will use?

Yeah, thats kind odd that the new 7000 series will be 3.0 but the new 900 series chipset is just 2.0. Doesnt really matter because 2.0 X16 bandwidth is know where being ate up. But still it would seem that they would match it up. They would have to have a new Northbridge Rev. to make it 3.0. The PCIe lanes for the main PCIe slots run off the N/B

So in my new build I'll have a 6950 on the x16. If I wanted to upgrade when it comes out (assuming its cheap enough and has the performance) would I benefit from upgrading, even though the PCIe is 2.0? (I'm assuming they're backwards compatible?) I know the details are limited, but theoretically.

probably, although i don't see a good enough upgrade over the 950 coming soon since it's fast enough, and can be a 970, but remeber, as stated above, even at x8 your 6950 is either running at full speed or arley any bottle, meaning it's only able to use about or less than half the speed it could, so the 3.0's should prob come closer to using all of the x16.

I didn't read the whole article just skimmed the first few paragraphs until I saw where it said something about Rambus memory... Hopefully it fairs better this time then it did for system memory for desktops. It was supposed to be the next best thing to sliced bread, but it didn't turn out that way.

Yea i was hoping someone else would read that... XDR2 sounds good on paper...but will it mean anything? im not totally certain...espically if it is expensive as hell..

well i'm pretty sure they wouldn't downgrade to something slower than gddr5, simple testing should have revealed something like inneficiency/slowness early enough in so they wouldn't be using something so flawed with the release so close.

Not sure if you all will get angry at me for bumping this, but has any new information been released? I'm itching to see the new hardware.

Heard the mid grade 7000 might be out before the end of the year, But the upper end 7950/7970 wont be out till after the first of the year. Low yield rates. Dont know if its true, but heard the 7970 will equal the 6990 with lower wattage then the 6970.

Link please. I would like to read more about it since I am desperately waiting for the new GPU series.
And any news about the higher end GPUs, will they be out by January?
