I live in India and want to build an AMD Gaming rig in INR 50000. That equals USD 1250. So guys can u suggest me an AMD Gaming Rig within the budget.I ask for AMD becoz it allows me to overkill. Thanks in advance!:)

well what do you already have? a monitor, hard drive, operating system, these can usually be reused

ok i have a 7-8 yrs old PC (Ancient) .its a P4. all components are old. recently added a DVD-ROM and Samsung CRT Monitor(i dont intend to change.its large).
So thats where its starts. By the way, AMD or Intel? What do you u suggest??

Intel currently has the edge over AMD in many cases. Overclocking, performance, ect.

For that price in USD, [when you get the retailer site], try:

Q6600
X38
XMS2 (Or any type of DDR2-800 2GB memory)
Antec 900
8800GTS G92
OCZ GameXStream 700W
Zalman CNPS 9700
(Any optical drive you want)
(Any HDD you want).

Well, I've had really good expriance with both, Im currently using a AMD machine right now. I have had previous P4 and P3 systems and have worked flawlessly.
Right now I would suggest if you want max performance, go with the Quad core, AMD has a cheaper Phenom X4 series, and Intel has the more powerful Core 2 Quad. Any decision is fine, you just have to do your research before buying.

I'll make you a Rig

I don't know if 2Gb of Ram is a sandbag to the system, but I thought that anyything over 4Gb is a overkill, and is too much for a gaming rig.

Aww, darn you got there first :D

Anyways, he got a overview.

As long as your don't intend to overclock the Phenom, you're fine, but the cost of the motherboards can be quite expensive, especially since their AM2+ (correct?). I'd also wait for the revision of the stepping.

ok thnanks for all those configs. Now i wont be e-tailing as such.. I will take this list to my dealer (computer shop) and ask for the quote! Thats it any more suggestions are welcome. Will tell u guys abt the final config.Thnx to ALL!!

You can get AM2+ boards now for 69 bucks and up. As far as the L3 lock up it has been blown way out of scale, it neven been duplicated on a desktop.

No Oscaryu1
Just about any AM2 board can support a AM2+ processor with a BIOS update, But alot have incompatiblities.

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/12/26/phenom_motherboards/

You have to take what Tomshardware says with a grain of salt, the Phenom they were using was a pre production/engineering sample. That probable why they had so much trouble. Testing the bios update with that model is totally bogus.

Hmm... I'm probably outta date. I looked around a month ago... and there were like 2 AM2+ boards... both around $200+...

What do you mean about the desktop duplicate part?

What do you mean about the desktop duplicate part?

Its a TLB erratum problem in the Barcelona L3 cache that it shares with the Phenom. In servers with alot of cache usage the lock up problem pops up at rare times when clocked over 2.5 or 2.6. But the problem has never been duplicated with a Phenom on a Desktop.

The AM2 boards are having a hard time with the phenoms because most manufacturers aren't releasing bios updates. If you plan on a phenom, you need a AM2+, otherwise if you go 5600/6000/6400 a AM2 will be fine

At this point in time a AM2 board is a waste of money, I would get a AM2+ board if I was getting a Athlon or Phenom. Alot better upgrade platform, HT 3.0/PCI 2.0/DDR2 1066 plus the sub 100 buck boards are coming out now.
