well i currently just have a 2.3ghrz p4, i do alot of gaming, alot of movie watching, digital art with photoshop and 3d studiomax etc... but i want to build the ultimate pc cheap as possible, basicly i duno what to get whats better, amd or p4... iw as thinking about either getting a 3.2 ghrz p4 or the fastest amd they got, what do you all think is better "?

still kinda stumped.... i read all of that, i do, do alot of hard gaming but alot of hard video editing etc...wouldnt a 3.2ghrz p4 with hyperthreading be enough to do just about anything i want

alright, what about 478 socket type, would i be ok with one of these or for all out performance should i look else where

i was thinking about a p4, hyperthreading - yes, 64bit - yes, 3.4ghrz lga 775 socket type, would this be ok and not be blown out but upcoming games/software/hardware within the next few years?

I think you should go with socket 939 its the newest one and best for performance (i think). what motherboard are you getting/do you have ?

I would reccommend intel pentium aswell. Im using a 3.0GHz pentium 4 and i get great everyday use out of it aswell as great gaming! Intel is highly reccommended by myself!:)

im gonna do another complete build build but this time i want the pc i build to not be out dated and not usuable within a couple of years, id like to use it to its full intent for a good 2-3 years b4 i build another....

hows this.. i was thinking about a p4, hyperthreading - yes, 64bit - yes, 3.4ghrz lga 775 socket type, would this be ok and not be blown out but upcoming games/software/hardware within the next few years?

btw, im open to any motherboard.. id jsut like to keep the price for each hardware item under 300bucks

how could you possibaly do any good gaming with that graphic card??? lol

Anyways. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103546

i just read a thread posted here of a review where the x2 pwnt the p4 in every aspect. so I guess it's just a better chip. And you will get better gaming outta it too.

I will give you a hand! I find that my pc reboots when it is too warm. i always thought it was windows untill i actuly checked the heat! On most motherboards the reboot point is 60o and it will not let it go higher than this point.

speaking of temps, my AMD Athlon64 3200+ runs idle at around 18C on stock cooling.

i fixed the rebooting problem but still not sure what was causing it, i went into system then advanced tab and turned off the automatic reboot. hasnt reboot since.. mobo monitor 5 shows case temp betweeen 30-40C, but for some reason wont show my cpu temp

It may not have a sensor at the cpu? Ahh well atleast its fixed and WOW 18C thats amazing! My pentium4 idle temp is 26C on stock cooling!
