I'm slightly confused about AMD socket types.
Had my computer for about a year now, and I'm running an:
ASUS A8N-SLI SE Skt939 motherboard
AMD Athlon 3000+ (single core)
I'm looking to buy a faster, dual core processor, but the main ones I can seem to find are all AM2 - the equivalent skt939 processors are FAR harder to find, and a lot more expensive.
I read on a website just now something about AM2 being compatible with 939 socket types, and I *seem* to remember something about my motherboard supporting 940 pin, or something like that.
Anyway, the question is, if I buy an AM2 chip, will it run in my computer?
Thanks in advance.
