what are you using the processor for?

even if he was using it for say, searching the internet. a single core will be outdated and with 500 dollars an X2 processor is right in the ballpark and will be good for everything.

i said though for building a $500 dollar pc so cpu cant be 500:o

and like general stuff but i would like to play games and amd is big on games but mostly surfing,music,etc..

hi i got a question

LiquidSilver Don't Hijack threads.

Praetor managed to fit a dual core rig into a $500 budget.

But what is the intent of the machine, solely gaming? Have a look at the 101.

did but i am still learning i really cant understand everything in all one sitting {: but anyway i look to game hopefully i say and multitasking surfing, music, etc... amd i know is better for gaming and intel for multitasking but i wont do multi-heavily any more comments?? thx

what will the machine be used for?? if you're going to be like mass dvd burning then a big hard drive, large amount of memory, and a decent cpu will be best, but if you want gaming then you might need less hard drive space and more cpu speed... and more memory speed as well :)

i dont need a big hard drive cause i got a 20gig and that is fine with me even though that is a penny to most people but gaming and multitaskin probably want the best dualcore around $200?
